Evidence shows Page appeared to have died from self-inflicted gunshot wound
FBI has not found anyone else responsible for Sikh temple shooting; no motive defined

The FBI said Wednesday morning that it has not identified anyone else responsible for the shooting at the Sikh temple on Sunday.

It has also not defined Wade Michael Page's motive, according to the FBI agent in charge, Teresa Carlson.

Carlson said the FBI did not have an open investigation on Page prior to the shooting.

She said they have conducted more than 100 interviews nationwide, including family, associated and neighbors of Page and 180 grand jury subpoenas have been issued.

Carlson said that evidence shows that after the officer shot Page in the stomach, that it appears Page died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

4. CNN is speculating this was announced to avoid retaliation killings.

Considering how fast, and how far, the hate groups have been distancing themselves from Page, I didn't see that as much of a risk myself.

6. Then this should have a positive effect in that respect.

There are a lot of sick people involved in that lifestyle. I'm sure anything is possible.

"Oh, sure we hate everyone not pure white, but he was crazy!" Is their new public mantra.

3. I wonder if he realized he wasn't getting out alive after shooting the other police officer?

We'll never know of course, but it is a possibility.

10. I wonder if it was intentional or unintentional

He was in the middle of a gun fight. As a soldier, he did not appear to be trained for combat and certainly didn't have combat experience. Wonder if in an attempt to reload his weapon, or something like that, he panicked and inadvertently shot himself.

12. In the head? Is that very likely? I am asking in all seriousness as I have no idea.

It doesn't seem like it would be easy to shoot oneself in the head - lethally - by accident. That seems like it would require some deliberation but I don't know.

13. No, this is a pretty normal scenario.

If you look at the list of mass shootings on Wikipedia, most end at the moment the shooter encounters armed resistance, and it usually ends by either self-inflicted gunshot, or by being killed by the armed resistance.

Not easy to shoot yourself in the head accidentally in a gunfight.

14. the security video confirms this according to the FBI

“Subsequent to that wound, it appears that Page died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” Carlson said in a news conference in Milwaukee. She indicated that the suicide, disclosed for the first time Wednesday, was confirmed by security video footage of the scene. She said of the second police officer’s shot that hit Page in the stomach, “I’ve seen the video, and it was an amazing shot. Thank goodness.”

Authorities previously said that Page was killed by police after he shot the first responder, fired at two police cars and failed to obey commands to put down his weapon, identified as a 9mm handgun.

to do himself in and go out in a blaze of glory, so to speak. Didn't I read somewhere that he'd been arguing with his girlfriend before this all happened?
