WASHINGTON (AP)
During wide-ranging hearings on Capitol Hill, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis also said that the United States should remain in the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration that constrains Irans ability to build a nuclear arsenal. Trump has trashed the international accord, a cornerstone of Barack Obamas presidency, as the worst agreement ever negotiated by the United States and signaled he may abandon the agreement.
The release of the Afghan war cost information came as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., assailed Mattis and Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for withholding from Congress key details about Trumps new strategy for winning in Afghanistan that was announced six weeks ago.
McCain, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, declared that it was bizarre that Mattis and Dunford did not submit written testimony before the hearing started. Thats customary practice for administration witnesses testifying before congressional committees.
We want to be your partners, McCain said. But this committee will not be a rubber stamp for any policy or president. We must be well-informed. We must be convinced of the merits of the administrations actions. And unfortunately, we still have far more questions than answers about this new strategy........................

(19,192 posts)loses more than that in their couch cushions each year. Seriously. They couldn't balance their books if they had a division of accountants. They throw money around like they have a blank check every year. Oh..........they DO have a blank check every year, don't they. Never mind.

(19,192 posts)More soldiers, more bullets, more bombs, more caskets, more morticians.......I think you get the picture. Our draft-dodger-in-chief has no problem sending other people's children to die on foreign soil, and Exxon-Mobil thanks Americans for sacrificing their children so petroleum-based products can continue to thrive.

(21 posts)The Pentagon can hold a bake sale to raise their funds, so they can afford to buy whatever they fucking what without having to spend 65% of our budget on useless wars.
