Trump approval hits record-low 32 percent in AP poll
Source: The Hill
President Trump's approval rating has sunk to a new low in a new Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey.
Thirty-two percent of Americans polled said they approved of Trump's handling of his job in office nine months into his presidency, while 67 percent of those polled said they disapproved.
The president's approval rating in the poll is down from 42 percent in March and 35 percent in June.
Trump also did not fare well among Americans who were asked if he understands their needs and problems.

Twenty-six percent believe President Trump is a strong leader, 23 percent view him as honest, and 16 percent say he is level-headed. Republicans are most likely to use each of these terms to describe the president.
Presidential approval remains on a downward trend. Thirty-two percent of Americans say they approve of the way President Trump is handling his job and 67 percent disapprove. His approval rating is down from 42 percent in March and 35 percent in June. While 67 percent of Republicans still approve of the job the president is doing, support among Republicans has decreased significantly since March when 80 percent of Republicans expressed approval. Twenty-eight percent of independents and 5 percent of Democrats say they approve of Trumps handling of his job. Among Democrats, this also represents a decline since March when 11 percent said they approved.

The nationwide poll was conducted September 28-October 2, 2017 using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 1,150 adults. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

(38,420 posts)I think 7 percent are still moveable.. 20 to 25 percent..are not moveable. But it is hard to know how far down it will go. We are still in inning number 2..or the first quarter of the game. I really hope both games quiet down, stay calm, but to me the ..."show ain't over till it is over"

The more time that passes, I'm afraid it will take our country decades to get back to its former glory...if at all. And fuck Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan and Mitch McLipless and the rest of those Pukes who are still standing idly by as if this is all normal.

But also, "disapproval" does not mean that every stupid Republican won't vote for him again in a heart beat if it is a choice between him and any Democrat.

(32,634 posts)This chart is from the AP article that's the source material for this article. The numbers are broken out into responses by Democrats, Independents, and Republicans. So in order to come up with the number 32% they combined all 3 responses, none of which were 32%.
As you can see, he only got 5% from the Democrats which includes people like pretty much everybody here on DU. He did slightly better with the Independents, and the only favorable replies are from the Republicans which is to be expected. There's no way to know how many Republicans they polled, we only know that the entire poll response is 1,115 people.
Another thing is these are responders who replied that they "strongly agree" but that's not everybody. Probably more people answered "somewhat agree" or "somewhat disagree" or "strongly disagree". I don't know how many possible choices they had because I didn't participate in this poll. You can see how easy it is to take very few answers and make it into fake numbers that don't tell the real story. That's what happens on all these polls.
