Poll: Majority favors compromise among political leaders

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 10/09/17 08:57 AM EDT

A majority of Americans in a new poll are in support of political leaders in Washington making compromises to accomplish their goals.

A Gallup survey finds 54 percent of Americans think political leaders should compromise. Just 18 percent of respondents think it's more important for political leaders to stick to their beliefs, even if it means they can't get things done.

Forty-four percent of Republicans think leaders in Washington should compromise to get things done and 62 percent of Democrats favor compromise. Just 23 percent of Republicans and 12 percent of Democrats think it's more important that leaders in Washington stick to their beliefs.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 6 to 10 among 1,022 adults. The margin of error is 4 percent.

Sorry, that ship has sailed. Republicans seem to think compromise means we agree 100% with everything they want to do.

There's nothing to compromise on anymore. The majority of people who want compromise don't really know what they want compromise on. It's a vague declaration that they simply think sounds reasonable. It's one of those things people say so that they can pretend they're above it all without having to put real thought into anything. Kind of like the "both sides" falacy.

their idea of “compromise” is to concede to everything they want.

“Compromise is great as long as you are not the one being compromised”

Not all of today's Republicans would scratch their eyes out rather than give something to a liberal, but it sure does seem a lot are just fine with those who have that mindset.

You can't compromise with that.

Why would I compromise, that actions for the last four years by republicans tell me not to compromise/

SO DU lets do a poll, compromise or not to compromise

Lets start with voting-------republicans don't want me to vote

Lets start with guns--------republicans have 229 billion associated with health care costs being put on the backs of public

Lets start with health care--------republicans don't want anyone to have this right

Lets start with Medicare-----------republicans want to cut the programs to offset the kids program in SNAP and CHIP

Lets start with Social Security-----republicans, give that money for tax breaks to individuals, corporations that don't pay taxes, now

Lets start with CHIP, and SNAP---------see above under Medicare

Lets start with education------republicans want to privatize the education to have the system fail, not the vision of Thomas Jefferson

Lets start with infrastructure---------republicans want to privatize the intestate highway system to foreign governments

Lets start with the environment----------republicans are idiots, just think hurricane season US 2017 and the costs 100 billion so far

Lets start with food, water, air-------------republicans, they don't need stinking clean food, water, and air

This short list that I have put on this thread, tells me that we are getting Fucked, I am not one of the 62% that wants to compromise with republicans while I am getting fucked and I don't have to put on a happy face.
44% of the republicans not even 50% think there should be compromise, sooooooooooooo

BS, on compromise, if they can't get past 50% then fuck them and horse they rode in on

Compromise
