4 year-old finds loaded handgun in Macy's restroom

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- An investigation with the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is underway after a four-year-old found a loaded handgun in the Macy's bathroom at the Grand Traverse Mall.

The dad of the 4-year-old girl called the police after his daughter brought a loaded handgun out of the Macy's restroom Friday evening.

Deputies said they searched the serial number to identify the owner of the gun, but they haven't found the person yet.


Deputies said they're doing a more in-depth search and are considering reviewing the surveillance video.

9. My husband found one in a park restroom stall.

He was afraid to just leave it there because a child might find it, so he made sure the safety was on and carried it to the park building and turned it in.

It turned out to have been accidentally left there by someone on patrol.

This is the charming practice where a group of friends strap on rifles then wander down the street until the police stop them.

I believe Michigan made a huge mistake writing their open carry law the way they did, and it needs to be amended - no rifles in town, designated places you can’t carry and so on - before someone winds up killing an open carrier.
