Trump Just Reinstated Restrictions On Hurricane Aid To Puerto Rico
Source: http://verifiedpolitics.com
>"Trump justified his delayed response to Puerto Rico by explaining that U.S. shipping magnates wanted to make money off the tragedy. Were thinking about [waiving the Jones Act], Trump said, but we have a lot of shippers and a lot of people that work in the shipping industry that dont want the Jones Act lifted.
After days of suffering and angry calls pouring in to Congressional offices, Trump finally issued a ten-day waiver that allowed aid to pour in.
Now, however those ten days have passed and Trump, who is spending his 70th day as president golfing, has allowed the Jones Act to go back into effect. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that the waiver will not be reinstated.
A bipartisan push is underway in the Congress to have Puerto Rico permanently exempted from the Jones Act, but the snails pace of Capitol Hill will do little to help Puerto Ricans who are suffering today."<

(65,290 posts)criticized on TV. Similarly, he waived the Jones Act only when his refusal to waive it got "had ratings." If people keep criticizing him on TV and in the polls over this, he might extend the waiver.
Therefore, we should keep pushing this issue into the limelight.

(7,430 posts)Bush 43 was the same way. His disinterest in the lives of innocent people being executed was noteworthy, as well as his cavalier use of the military in Afghanistan and Iraq.
But Trumpy has a different twist to playing God. He seems to believe that REAL POWER is the POWER OF DEATH. He can actually make whimsical decisions that can end people's lives, and he loves that part of his job.
It would take an enormously inflated ego, as well as severely diminished value for human life, for Trumpy to order actions that would increase the risks of death and disease in PR. But Trumpy is up to the task.
Aneurism, anyone?

He'll laugh while PR folks die just so the rich can continue to be blood suckers. He's actually causing people to die by his personal allegiance to the 1%ers and racists. That he's doing this out of racism and petty spite against 1 woman is what makes it so extremely vile. I hope hundreds of thousands of them move to FL, register and turn my state blue. Suck on that, tiny hands!

(7,430 posts)Watch out when the indictments come. Trumpy will go ballistic and will obsess with vengeance upon his perceived enemies. He'll ignore his aides' pleas to not fire Mueller, but he'll bore ahead with any simple plan to fire Mueller. He'll victimize himself and try to whip up his nazis and gun humpers to clamor for his innocence. Then we'll discover that Trumpy's activist base is much smaller than it was made out to be, because his gun humping backers will show up by the hundreds, not the tens of thousands. The GOPers in politics will see that Trumpy's a paper tiger, a complete media creation, and they'll drag him out of the WH in his pajamas.
Well, I thought it was a good fantasy.

(15,642 posts)When are we going to wake up from this god-awful dream? Better question, when is the GOP going to start actually being patriotic and running this disgrace of a person -- he's no frigging president! -- out of the White House? Do they have any loyalty to the nation whatsoever?

(14,169 posts)is that most GOP are closet Trumps themselves. He says what they wish they could say, but are slightly more politically aware than he is and understand how they would come off. He is a great scape goat as well in that while he is in office he can be used as a shield to pass whatever draconian laws they want to. Trump takes most of the heat for them.

(15,805 posts)The Dems would support it, what excuse do Republicans have for making it even harder for Puerto Rico to recover? It can't be the cost, because now with the Jones act back in place, everything costs twice as much and they are going to have to vote to fund the higher costs that needlessly stupid law adds.
