Supreme Court dismisses 1 of 2 challenges to Trump travel ban
Source: The Hill
The Supreme Court tossed one challenge to President Trumps travel ban late Tuesday.
The court said the case the International Refugee Assistance Project brought against the ban is now moot since Trumps order banning nationals from six majority-Muslim countries expired on Sept. 24.
The court said it originally agreed to hear the case to resolve a challenge to the temporary suspension of nationals from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen
Because that provision of the order expired by its own terms on September 24, 2017, the appeal no longer presents a live case or controversy, the court said.

(4,490 posts)The latest travel ban is structured differently to try and avoid the same legal opposition that got previous bans shot down. There's a couple more countries that are non-muslim (like NK), and a set of "standards" was formed to make the ban seem more rational than targeting Muslims.
