Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has made it clear to the State Department that he wants to accelerate the release of any remaining Hillary Clinton emails in its possession as soon as possible, according to three sources familiar with the President's thinking.
This latest move for disclosure from the State Department comes at the same time the President called upon the Justice Department to lift a gag order on a key FBI informant in an investigation into Russian efforts to gain influence in the US uranium industry during the Obama administration.
The sources described the President's interest in the release of the emails -- and the testimony of the FBI informant -- as rooted in a commitment to "transparency," with one source adding that "the law requires cooperation with Congress and the courts."
After the initial publication of this story, one White House official confirmed the President expressed interest in the release of the Clinton emails, and later -- in a conversation with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson -- learned of the vast backlog of more than 13,000 outstanding FOIA cases. Those cases involve not just Clinton's emails but a multitude of topics -- some going back almost a decade. Trump then asked Tillerson to work to clear the backlog.

(19,193 posts)how much of the taxpayer's money the GOP has wasted investigating the Clintons over the years. And all they ever found was a stain on a blue dress. Disgusting!

(23,292 posts)$70 million was spent by Ken Starr and Newt Gingrich house while Clinton was president. Plus however much they have spent on Benghazi and 'emails'.
SergeStorms
(19,193 posts)It's probably more, but let's call it an even $100 million. Do you realize how many golf carts that would pay for at Trump's resorts? Pretty close to $100 million worth is my guess. Why waste money on investigations that never bear any fruit? The GOP does like to waste money on stuff like that, but not on education or healthcare. They think money spent on those things is a waste. Assholes!

(19,193 posts)hearing "Hillary" and "emails" is red meat for his brain-dead supporters. They get all squishy when they hear the name 'Clinton' and won't pay any attention to what every media outlet, save FOX, will be reporting for the next few days. They'll all be in their 'Clinton' blood rage, and black out for a week or so. So powerful is the name "Clinton' on their pitiful psyches.

When Donald Trump chatted with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, it was unsettling enough that the American leader started their conversation with unprompted praise for Dutertes extra-judicial killings. But we now know that Trump also decided to tell Duterte that the United States dispatched two nuclear submarines, which are off the coast of the Korean peninsula.also classified information.
