North Korea Faces 'Overwhelming' Military Response From Trump, Mattis Warns In Seoul

Source: Newsweek Magazine

BY JACK MOORE ON 10/28/17 AT 8:55 AM

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis on Saturday warned North Korea that it could expect a “massive military response” from President Donald Trump if it presses ahead with the use of nuclear weapons, as he continued his visit to Seoul, South Korea.

“Make no mistake—any attack on the United States or our allies will be defeated,” Mattis said at a joint press conference with Song Young-moo, his South Korean counterpart.

“Any use of nuclear weapons by the North will be met with a massive military response, effective and overwhelming,” Mattis added. “I cannot imagine a condition under which the United States will accept North Korea as a nuclear power.”

-snip-

He said that diplomacy and negotiations were still a “preferred course of action” but said that the ability to wield strong military power made for a situation in which “our diplomats are most effective.”

“Make no mistake—any attack on the United States or our allies will be defeated,”

The US has been at war for the last 16 years and still hasn't defeated ISIL, the Taliban, Boko Haram, and every off shoot of Al Queda that you can think of!

And with what troops does Mattis plan to hold North Korean territory with? What about the initial casualties of a possible North Korean attack and let's not forget that the Chinese will not allow the US to threaten its borders, nor do they want a unified Korea!

Mattis talks a good game, but at this point in time the US lacks the ground troops required to fight a population that has been taught from birth that Americans are the devil!

Looks like "Mad Dog" has drunk from the same vat of kool-aid that Kelly and McMaster have!!!

4. Folks on BOTH sides would die

As much as I hate Trump and his Do-bodies, this enemy (unlike the militant groups you've mentioned) are IN UNIFORM and IN ONE PLACE. There's not even any reason for a ground assault once a fracas starts. In a day we'd have air superiority over their aging air fleet. After that, drones would fill the skies over NK, like locusts - cruise missiles would swarm - domestic jobs would be created and the MIC would reap the monetary results. Not one boot on NK's ground required.
To be sure, there'll be "fallout" of various types, but it might prove to be like a public service announcement for humanity if they got to see hell unleashed again. There are folks today who have no concept of what a nuclear device can do - probably alot of them don't even know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Again, this would be against an organized army - not chasing four guys with AK-47s thru rough mountain terrain.

9. Most of the NK forces are cannon fodder. With no leadership, they collapse.

The FIRST order would be to take out the command and control. The NK leadership being what it is, they don't allow ANYONE below the top to have ANY info or decision making capabilities.
Without being told what to do, the entire force would be in a shambles in a short time. their inferior equipment and training would doom them.

We had Pence saber rattling at a nuclear ICBM installation military base yesterday and now this. I'm hoping it's mostly hot air designed to create cover and divert attention away from the real news.

...that the closer Robert Mueller gets to Trump's unprecedented criminality, the louder the war drums beat.

"But you can't impeach me! We're in a nuclear war!"
'You STARTED the fucking nuclear war, Mr. Trump. That's WHY we're impeaching you!'

Yeah, how about that.

A nuclear war sure would divert attention away from Commander Bone Spurs many criminal acts, wouldn't it?

Mattis today and Pence yesterday....looks like they are building up to.....hmm

The country with the most amount to lose in the area is China...
It is in China's interest to avoid a war in North Korea, and China is North Koreas most important benefactor.
If big mouth in North Korea wants to start a war with big mouth in United States, that would kill millions, it is possible that China would step in and say "NO".....

Here is a thread currently being discussed about the importance of China in that area.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10029761358

Everything that is being said by their big mouth and our big mouth is kinda crazy.
So if China wants to continue to improve their economy and presence in the world, as a
major power, it will prevent war by all means possible....regardless of the so called, big mouths..

And if China uses all means to prevent war in that area, a country with a billion people, vs North Korea with maybe 30 million at most,........guess what ...China will prevent the war.. Don't you think so?
It is no longer in China's best national interest to fight a war, or allow a war so close.

This is not l949..it is 2017. IMO it is all bs. Read the thread above at the link..This is what I believe.

I forgot, there are also a whole lot of people in the U.S. who would think a war with North Korea is absurd.
Some are very close to our ..big mouth.. I believe those close to Drump, will do everything possible to prevent a useless war...that could kill millions. Now countries in the area really do not want a war. Does Japan want war?
Does South Korea want war? ..Russia kinda has influence in the area..Does the "election fixer" want war?
An ugly war that would kill millions?..I don't think so
