Gowdy to fellow Republicans: Give Mueller a chance to do his job

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 10/29/17 01:00 PM EDT

-snip-

"I would encourage my Republican friends, give the guy a chance to do his job. The result will be known by the facts, by what he uncovers," Gowdy, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said on "Fox News Sunday."

"The personalities involved are much less important to me than the underlying facts," he added. "So, I would say give the guy a chance to do his job."

-snip-

But Gowdy said on Sunday that nothing in Mueller's record suggests that he is incapable of conducting the Russia investigation in a fair manner. The South Carolina Republican pointing to Mueller's record as a former FBI director and U.S. attorney as evidence that he is a "pretty apolitical guy."

"I think Bob Mueller has a really distinguished career of service to our country," he said. "I don't think any of your viewers can think of a single thing he did as the FBI director that calls them to have a lack of confidence in him."

"I think most of your viewers have to be reminded that he actually was the FBI director or that he actually was a U.S. attorney, because he's a pretty apolitical guy."

How? Blackmail, threatening family members of the Special Counsel's team? IDK, but I'm worried that Gowdy would say such a thing unless he knew what the Special Counsel would find. Gowdy is a Prosecutor himself...

Gowdy's comments about Fox viewers are remarkable in that he isn't trying to smear Robert Mueller the way the Trumpers have done. Further, he makes a very strong case for Mr. Mueller's credibility.

This is an unexpected position for Gowdy. Nonetheless, he's still a Republican jackass.

Gowdy might be drawn into this who Russia-Gate thing. Remember,Chaffetz jacked the E-Mail Letter debate and Gowdy will have to answer for his Committee.

in a post-Trump Administration world.

A world where Trump supporters are in an awkward position.

Gowdy as one of the slimiest republicans on the planet would be early to abandon Trump.

Gowdy sounding sane for a change, why, he never did before? Since Mueller is investigating Podesta, does he think that gets drumpf and his fellow colluders off the hook?

I bet Gowdy has an inside line from his prosecutor days and has gotten word that some Democratic players like the Podestas are getting caught up in the net as well.

I think they will indict a sacrificial lamb or two in the end, maybe even one from each side like Manafort and Tony Pedestal just so it has the appearance of being non-partisan. Then they say there isn't enough to go after anyone else and they all return to their million dollar law firm jobs.

Not only would he be challenging an incumbent, he's only a representative. Senators and governors get elected President, not representatives. Trump and Eisenhower are the exceptions, and he's neither.
