GOP senators dismiss calls for bill to protect Mueller from Trump

Source: The Hill

Senate Republicans, including some of President Trump’s sharpest GOP critics, are rebuffing Democratic demands to pass legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller as his investigation into the 2016 election ramps up.

"I can't imagine any administration taking a move like that," Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told reporters Monday when asked if legislation to shield Mueller from a potential firing was necessary.

"There's no indication that he's going to ... fire [Mueller] or pardon [anyone] at this point," said Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who, like Corker, has feuded openly with Trump.

-snip-

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) also downplayed the chances that Mueller would get fired, saying no one in their "right mind" would fire the special counsel.

I was exposed to Close to the Edge when I was 15 and had just picked up the bass...Chris Squire was probably the largest single influence on my bass playing development for many years. Even bought a '76 Blue 4001 with the "Rick-o-sound" pickup configuration....loved that bass......

No one else can place one long bass line melody stretching over 12 bars and have it resolve into a perfect harmony on a downbeat... or upbeat,, or in syncopation.

Thanks for the note!

Ever check out Gentle Giant? Baroque prog rock.. really good..

or my old prog band, Sidereal Gate from the San Jose area circa 1980.. yeah ok.. hand held video cam.. local festival.. KSJO stage.. forward it to the 30 sec mark to eliminate the talking..

Shadowfax, I haven't thought of them for a good while, I may need to reacquaint. I've always been more moved by Brit, French and Italian prog. German and American prog always felt a bit stiff to me.

Enjoy your day and see you around DU!

I guess they'll be expressing their shock, shock I tell you, that the unimaginable happened and, well, jeez, it's just too late now to do anything about it (shoulders shrugging and lips pursed in a Barney Fife look of faux shock).

Abettors to treason, plain and simple. You don't put the Constitution and Nation at risk out of part loyalty unless you don't give a good god damn about either the Constitution or the Nation.

the GOP has circled the wagons. They are circling around Trump even tighter. Those golf games with Trump sure changed Graham's tune.

Despicable.

If Trump arranges for Mueller to be fired, he's not going to tip off the world ahead of time. Duh.

and you can be sure Hell's fury will rain down on the lot of them if he's fired, with their complicity. Indictments, leaked letters, cancelled hush-money checks to ex-lovers, Cypriot bank accounts suddenly drained... It will be a very bad day to be a RePutin.

I keep thinking that Mueller will wait before doing any of the Drumpf family (Jr & Kushner) if in the plan. He will work his way all around them so he can continue as long as he can. And that is because as soon as he gets close or goes for them, they will find any way they can to immediately get rid of him.

Corker you and Flake, confirmed everyone one this malignant normality corrupt administration, you should be asking this question:

What does Wilbur Ross know, and when did he know it when he was at the Bank of Cyprus------------I think I deserve and millions of others deserve answers-----------------

Because Manafort had a lot of transactions out of Cyprus----------

Can one of Muellers top aides in the investigation simply take over? Having all the information still at his disposal? Because it seems like its only the person, Mueller, that would be canned, not the investigation, right? Or do I have that wrong. Would the investigation and all they have accumulated by just laid to rest along with Mueller?

Or is it that Trump himself, or through his minion Rosenstein, would simply appoint a true believer as a replacement to the post who would quickly wrap it up with a verdict of no conclusive evidence? But if he tried this, surely there'd be some kind of rebellion with those on Mueller's present team that have already spent months on this, that would not want to allow that kind of injustice.
