Trump: US justice system a 'laughing stock,' 'joke'
Source: The Hill
President Trump on Wednesday referred to the U.S. justice system as a "joke" and a "laughing stock."
Speaking during a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, Trump mourned the lives lost in the attack Tuesday in New York. He said the country needs to come up with "punishment that's far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now."
"They'll go through court for years. At the end, they'll be who knows what happens. We need quick justice and we need strong justice, much quicker and much stronger than we have right now," he said. "Because what we have right now is a joke and it's a laughing stock and no wonder so much of this stuff takes place."
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during the Wednesday press briefing, however, disputed a reporter's characterization that the president called the system of justice in this country a "joke." "That's not what he said," she said.

I guess to beat the would-be lawless dictatorships, we need to become a lawless dictatorship? Or, since they hate us for our freedom, we should get rid of our freedom, so they no longer hate us?

(7,524 posts)Or perhaps he'd enjoy the style of justice where people who speak untruths have their tongue cut off, or thieves have hands cut off.
By now, 45 would be nothing but a torso fragment.

(50,552 posts)Trump didn't pick Sarah Huckabee-Sanders for her charm and beauty (if he was looking for beauty, Fox News is full of pretty girls who'd fit right into his mindset and would take a temporary pay cut to be introduced as "former White House spokesperson" for the rest of their careers) but for the fact she can lie as easily as you or I breathe.
Besides, I am NOT wearing false lashes. Mine are just fine the way they are.

and probably still thinks that the 5 BLACK young men were really guilty despite the DNA evidence and the confession of the perpetrator complete with details of the crime that only the guilty person would know.
Donald wanted to reinstate the death penalty and execute the 5 young men accused (and later convicted and who did serve around 14 years in prison).
Donald has never apologized for getting it so wrong.

(1,148 posts)Once again, he can be as negative as he wants, and that is how he motivates his base. Never has a positive outlook on anything. Gives you insight on who voted for him - people who complain all of the time instead of truly envisioning a better future.
It's a mass psychological problem.

(54,335 posts)When we consider how many white cops get off scott free for shooting unarmed black men, when we consider how many Trump cronies had illegal contacts--as yet unindicted but for a few--with foreign agents to get their man into office, when we consider that Trump is president in the first place, our justice system definitely has a few flaws in need of fixing.
