Kentucky House speaker resigns post after texts with staffer

Source: AP

Nov 5, 2017

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky's Republican House speaker resigned his leadership position Sunday after acknowledging he settled sexual harassment claims from one of his staffers last month.

Jeff Hoover denied sexually harassing the staff member, but said he sent inappropriate text messages that were consensual. Hoover's wife and two of his three daughters were in the room as he spoke.

"I engaged in banter that was consensual but make no mistake it was wrong on my part to do that. And for that, I am truly sorry," Hoover said. "I want to reiterate that at no time, at no time did I engage in unwelcome or unwanted conduct of any kind."

Thomas Clay, a Louisville attorney who represents the victim, said his client had "legitimate concerns about workplace conduct."

When the decision was made to take down Weinstein, they couldn't continue to sit there and let all the (probably) hundreds of thousands of similar instances across the U.S. just wither on the vine.

He was in a position of power over his staffer. He never should have initiated the sexual banter. That is harassment!

Cal Thomas uses his granddaughter as an example that women should just take it and accept it when the aggressor is in a position of power.

I got the exact opposite
Especially since he ends with "Maybe we should put women in charge..."

Hopefully they'll come forward soon and not feel threatened. But being that Putin's evil cartel is involved with Trump, it's probably VERY scary to come forward with a case against Trump.

the numerous people in "power" who have pulled these stunts, it makes me pause and wonder:

Is there something wrong in the heads of people who want fame and power? Something that makes them think that any actions they take are "right" and they are immune from any potential backlash?

or

"Money for nothin' and your chicks for free."

RePutins generally fall into the latter category.

Wow, says something about those family dynamics. The women are supporting him, but is he supporting them?
