On Tuesday, Twitter gave its preferred status, a verified check mark, to Jason Kessler, the creator of the white supremacist Charlottesville rally in August that left one dead.
Kesslers new verified status comes just 26 days after CEO Jack Dorsey again recommitted to eliminating hate symbols, violent groups, and tweets that glorifies violence from its platform.
Dorseys latest announcement detailing new harassment policies, and saying Twitter would take a more aggressive stance in our rules and how we enforce them, came one day after actress Rose McGowan tweeted she had been raped by Harvey Weinstein.
Twitter claimed McGowans account was then suspended because one of her tweets contained a phone number, but users protested the company for what many claimed was arbitrary enforcement of its harassment policy.

(19,192 posts)that's how our Preznit insists on communicating with his "constituents". I guess it's the preferred communication platform for racist, sexist dullards.
A lot of great people use Twitter as well, but I'll never understand it. "Social" networking has taken on an entirely new meaning. I don't really see anything "social" about it, but I'm an old guy, a relic of the past.

The organizer of the Aug. 12 Unite the Right rally has been charged with publishing the address of a local community organizer with the intent to cause harassment.
Jason Kessler on Tuesday was served by city police with the misdemeanor warrant and released on an unsecured bond, police said. The warrant was obtained from a magistrate by Emily Gorcenski, a local social activist, who said on Twitter that she had sought the warrant.
Does Twitter know about this? Do they care?

At nearly 5.2%, his stake in the company is now larger than that of Jack Dorsey, Twitters co-founder and newly re-minted CEO, whose 21.86 million shares give him 3.2% of the company, according to FactSet. (The prince previously had a stake of roughly 3%.)
Twitter co-founder Ev Williams remains the companys largest shareholder, with 46.56 million shares for a 6.9% stake.
