Trump voters: We'd do it again
Source: Politico
Among those who voted for the president, there are few regrets. But there are questions about whether he'll even finish his four-year term.

One year after the 2016 presidential election, the vast majority of Donald Trump voters have no regrets.
According to a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted on the eve of the first anniversary of Trump's historic election, 82 percent of those who say they supported Trump last year would vote for him again if they had to do it over. That's slightly more than those who say they would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton again 78 percent if they had the chance. Only 7 percent of Trump voters and 8 percent of Clinton voters say they would vote for a different candidate if they could complete their 2016 ballot again.
Trumps supporters have largely rallied around the president, despite his poor overall approval ratings, the chaos of his first year in office and the ongoing investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
But there are worrying signs for Trump that voters are less inclined to give him a second term three years from now if he decides to run for reelection.

(45,786 posts)When I was in Germany 20 years ago, I met unrepentant Nazis. They had secret gatherings in the woods, where they sang Nazi songs from the Thirties. They had hidden "museums" in the basements of their homes with Nazi memorabilia. They wanted to deport the Turkish immigrants they invited into Germany to do menial labor. My guess was/is that Hitler returned, they'd give him their full support.

(5,914 posts)No one wants to see themselves as a duped idiot or think that they completely wasted their time, so they just double down on dumbfuckery. It takes a lot of self-confidence and fearless self-examination to overcome that.

Trump received a lot of support from them in the GOP primaries and the general election.

(1,279 posts)It is easy to see my original either way. No, I definitely do not support White Supremacy and have never supported any group like that. The hate I see now keeps bringing to mind pictures and videos of Germany in the 30s. If you have not seen the movie CABARET, watch one song that I am afraid could be sung here soon, TOMORROW BELONGS TO ME.

I have no time for that kind of stupidity in my life. Too many other people who actually care about what America's contributions and obligations are for the rest of the world.

The latest Gallup pole gave him a 37% approval rating and that will never get you re-elected.

(40,153 posts)This person now thinks Trump is an idiot and becomes a bigger idiot with each passing day. He would never vote for him again and told me he knows others who feel the same way and doesn't understand who the people are that are giving Trump an approval rating still in the 30's. I think it all depends on who you're talking to. Maybe the remorseful Trump voters don't want to respond to questioning.

Former Trump supporters who are remorseful and admit to it already do get it.
The focus needs to be on getting Dems turned out everywhere they way they did in VA.
