Goodlatte to retire after 2018

Source: Politico

Rep. Bob Goodlatte will not seek reelection to the House in 2018, he announced Thursday.

The Virginia Republican leads the powerful House Judiciary Committee, but his term as chairman ends next year. "This is a natural stepping-off point," he said.

Goodlatte's district has long been a safe seat for Republicans.

My Dad was on the Board of Directors at a local Credit Union some years back. He and some other reps of Credit Unions went up to lobby Goodlatte on a bill pending in the House. Goodlatte wouldn't even meet with them. Told them "I don't work for the Credit Unions. I work for the banks." Truly a vile, horrid creature.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said Thursday that he will not seek reelection, becoming the latest in a string of GOP lawmaker retirements.

Goodlatte, 65, is the third term-limited House committee chairman to announce his plans to leave the chamber within the last week.

"With my time as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee ending in December 2018, this is a natural stepping-off point and an opportunity to begin a new chapter of my career and spend more time with my family, particularly my granddaughters," Goodlatte said in a letter to supporters.

Two other House committee chairmen, Reps. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), also announced last week that they will not seek reelection.

With Lynchburg included and Harrisonburg

57% for McCain in 2008
63% for W in 2004

Gillespie won it by 22% on Tuesday
Goodlatte (often no Dem opponent) has won it with 65% up to 77%

And yet ANOTHER Republican who all of a sudden decides not to seek re-election! Could it be because there may be some financial connection to accepting Russian Cash for his campaign(s) that just maybe Mueller could be onto...and may be sort of...Non-Legal?

Retire now, get that pension and fight to keep it because he was "Just following orders, ja?"
