Ahead of Ivanka Trump's Visit, Indian City Bans Beggars

Source: Newsweek Magazine

Ivanka Trump is set to visit India for an entrepreneurship summit later this month and one city is gearing up by banning beggars from the street.

Authorities have planned to take 6,000 beggars off the streets and into rehab centers and shelters in Hyderabad ahead of Trump's visit. The White House adviser is expected to represent the U.S. at the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

President Donald Trump tweeted about his daughter’s trip in August. The U.S. is co-hosting the summit celebrating “Women First, Prosperity for All ” with India between November 28-30.

with her kids, getting acquainted? They will be calling the nanny "Mommy" soon, if they have not already. I wonder if she will get the same lukewarm reception she got in Tokyo earlier this week? Even people overseas are sick of this grifting family.

If a man traveled to India - I've traveled there myself - would you say the same thing?

The issue here is contempt for the poor, a feature of all Republicans, not "Mommy's traveling" stuff.

In preparation for the game (actually in preparation for the media), panhandlers and homeless were rounded up and housed in shelters. Same for the Superbowl game held later that year, although the homeless are not as visible in winter.

For both events, the Coast Guard presence and patrolling was increased on the Detroit River, to protect us from Canadians.

I'd bet many cities "prepare" for big visits by temporarily "cleansing" the environment.

Ivanka might be embarrassed if she spotted a beggar wearing one of her fashion items, sent to India after it couldn't be sold by a Salvation Army store in the U.S.
