Poll: Trump job approval hits new low

Source: the hill

By Jonathan Easley - 11/17/17 06:00 AM EST

President Trump’s job approval rating hit a new low in November and has declined for three months straight, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll.

The survey found that 41 percent approve of the job Trump is doing, compared to 59 percent who disapprove. That’s down from a 45 percent approval in September and the previous low of 42 percent, which Trump hit in October. Trump peaked in the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll at 49 percent approval in March.

Trump’s 41 percent job approval rating in the Harvard CAPS/Harris survey is on the high end of where other surveys find him. According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Trump has a 38 percent job approval rating, a historic low for a first-term president at this point in the term.

Still, the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll found that Trump’s base is sticking with him – 79 percent of Republicans and 86 percent of Trump voters approve of the job he is doing. Trump slumps to only 38 percent approval among independents and is almost universally disliked among Democrats, African-Americans and Clinton voters.

Why is he not in the LOW 30s yet? Will we have to wait until his massive middle class tax hike kicks in, and millions of deplorables are kicked off of health care?

“President Trump's job approval rating has fallen to a new low, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The new Quinnipiac University poll finds Trump has a job approval rating of 34 percent, compared to 57 percent who disapprove of the way the president is handling his job.”

It was also 34% in August

As much as I want it to be so, we have to be realistic.

But you are correct; many polls have had him lower and the headline makes it unclear the were limiting it to the one.

I assume that is only what's explicitly written in the bill. The huge designed-in deficits will provide an excuse for trillions in cuts, which will of course all be aimed at social programs.

14% (1 in 7) who voted for "it" don't approve. That's particularly bad given it's only been a year since the election.

A lot of those are likely those crossover people who just voted for "anyone but Hillary". (For reasons i cannot fathom.) That's substantial erosion in the base. 1.2% per month!

I expect many more have simply lost enthusiasm, and while they'd never vote Democratic, they may just sit out the next elections.

But, i'm thinking those most likely to have "buyer's remorse" are the crossover voters. They will still vote but they ain't voting for the cretin.

and tweet some other poll that shows he has higher support.

People (even here it seems) don't realize that different polls have different results, and you can't compare quin to harvard caps for example.

The report was in reference to a previous poll by the same pollster. It's a new low for that poll, not the lowest ANY poll has been.

So trump will just pick the least bad poll and say he is improving and not as sad as other polls make him out to be. It doesn't matter to him that the poll he chooses is down period/period compared to itself. He will compare it to the lowest one and say they are all fake.

He does have a point though. Polls don't mean a lot except to show trends. They can turn in an instant. And he and the russians know that.

When approval gets down to an indisputable 30% let me know. That would be worth paying attention to.
