Franken spokesman: Senator won't resign, doing a lot of 'reflecting'

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 11/19/17 11:43 AM EST

A spokesman for Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said the senator would not resign in the wake of an accusation he kissed and groped a woman without her consent, The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Sunday.

“He is spending time with his family in Washington, D.C., and will be through the Thanksgiving holiday, and he’s doing a lot of reflecting,” the spokesperson told the newspaper.

Leeann Tweeden, a broadcaster in Los Angeles, published a story on Friday alleging that Franken kissed and groped her without her consent during a USO tour in 2006. Franken had not yet entered politics at the time, and was working as a comedian.

Those who are calling for his resignation are clueless knuckleheads. He's asked for an investigation, and then we'll see what really went down.

Going to now do the same for Mazie Hirono, Brian Schatz and neither of my congresspeople. In fact I'll go donate to their primary opponents, Sherry Campagna and Kaniela Ing.

/no, I don't condone what he did. If the standard for a Democrat is perfection but the Republicans can run and win with the worst people in the world, we're going to have to look pretty hard for candidates. I'll take him how he is, flaws and sincere apology and all.

Anybody who cares to lecture me can save their breath as I'm definitely going to ignore you.

It's he said/she said. It's a waste of time and the public's resources.

However, if alleged victim #2 comes up with her Facebook page "proof" from 7 years ago, then all bets are off.

Very discouraging, this trial by court of public opinion. I think we all could use a little introspection.

I would be pissed at him if he resigned. He knows perfectly well that he ain't a predator or a bully, that his moral compass works just fine. He is only guilty of a silly gag that allowed the Trumpsters to turn it into Sodom & Gemorrah.

Yeah for Al Franken.

He can choose to let it die, or to encourage an investigation. If there was a quid pro quo or evidence that completely debunks Tweeden's account sufficiently obvious for the sheeple that haven't grasped it yet, it might be best to investigate. But (assuming that he knows there's much more to the story than she claims, and that stuff is fully exonerating him), he also recognizes it as nonserious politics and a distraction from stuff that matters.

He is a target of a political hatchet job by the Russian loving bunch. The not-so-innocent accuser now has a book deal where she can make lots of cash. Her target audience couldn't care less whether there are any facts in the book or not but will be looking for anything salacious.
Franken is a target because he is strong and effective in challenging Republican dirty tricks.

..... and their think tanks and dirty tricksters no longer have HRC to kick around anymore so they are painting a target on Franken's back so they can use him for target practice of convenience when they need to create a diversion or distraction when the political spotlight focuses on their wrongdoings.

Projection, distraction, distortion, and flagrant lying is their only game.

This was a hit job, through and through. It'd be nice if the networks besides MSNBC would start showing the photos and videos that reveal Leelee (or whatever her name is -- who cares) mugging with Franken many years after the "assault" and pinching other guys' asses onstage. And the topless pic of her with Dump stickers superimposed over her chest. She is a bought-for Trump/Russia troll through and through.

The real assaulter currently resides in the White House. Disgusting.

since mine are Cornyn and Cruz. It would be wonderful to have someone with the intellect and decency of Sen. Franken in Texas. Like Alabama and Mississippi, Texas has a lot of good people regardless of how we appear to the rest of the nation based upon our representation.
