Pelosi calls for investigation into sexual allegations against Conyers

Source: The Hill

BY OLIVIA BEAVERS - 11/21/17 02:32 PM EST

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is calling for an ethics investigation into her Democratic colleague, Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), amid new allegations of sexual misconduct with female staffers.

"As I have said before, any credible allegation of sexual harassment must be investigated by the Ethics Committee," Pelosi said in a statement Tuesday.

She stressed that all lawmakers must make Congress a place of "zero tolerance for harassment."

“As Members of Congress, we each have a responsibility to uphold the integrity of the House of Representatives and to ensure a climate of dignity and respect, with zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, bullying or abuse," the California lawmaker continued.

45 is a virulent sexual predator and bully.

It's proven. It's known.

And yet ... there he is going scot free.

But I'd like to hear her and all Democrats in congress show a little urgency concerning the tax situation and how bad it's going to be for the poor and middle class. This discussion on sexual harassment is a necessary thing and it's gonna play out exactly like it should, but Democrats should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. There are other things happening that are equally important that need light shined on them as well. Net neutrality, trump trying to privatize the va, taxes and all the crap they're trying to slide into their bill that we wont see until it's too late like a repeal of the healthcare mandate. Congress needs to focus.

Nancy doesn't even want to DISCUSS impeachment. NO way.

Gee, thanks Nancy for targeting Conyers ONLY and keeping gloves off of other sexual predators and child molesters in the Congress

By the way, did Nancy EVER say anything about the pedophile/child sex trafficker and former head of the tRumputin campaign in Oklahoma Ralph Shortey?

I'm not aware of any sexual harassment allegations against (R) Senators, at least not yet.

But if we let the charges against Conyers (etc.) slide, then when there *are* allegations against (R) senators then the hypocrisy would be really rank if they investigated just the (R) or their behavior would be outrageous if they didn't.

There's always the problem that some allegations grow stale. It's a really bad habit to assume that current standards are universal and always have been. (Think of it as "cultural temporal imperialism".)

realizes this is a problem of the entire Congress, including the WH, and if you are going to do it, you do it right with the intent of stopping this type of inappropriate behavior

Singling out one Congress person isn't going to do sqwat. Let's just see once and for all how far this goes.

so good luck with that.

I am glad this is happening, but I am worried, too. This is being used as a massive distraction from the tax bill and the Russia investigation. It is tailor made.
