Gas prices see biggest jump of the year
Source: CNN
Gas prices jumped 18 cents over the past two weeks, the biggest jump of the year, according to a survey published Sunday.
The average cost of a gallon of regular is $3.69 nationwide, the Lundberg Survey found.
That's nearly 8 cents higher than a year ago, but still 28 cents lower than it was in April of this year.
"Higher crude oil prices, higher corn-based ethanol prices, plus a spate of refinery and pipeline problems around the country combined" are behind the spike, said publisher Trilby Lundberg.

(548 posts)Obama needs to immediately suspend the nationwide ethanol requirement. All the land growing drought-impacted corn and soy should go back into grass. America needs affordable grass fed beef and buffalo!

Crude oil was around $79 a barrel and gas prices were around $3.60. Prices now are around, $3.67, but crude oil prices are $91.97. Crude oil jumped almost $12, but prices for gas, $.08. Also, it is still lower than April.
ETA: Two weeks in February (13-27), there was a $.20 jump in prices.
