NYT: Trump Expressed Disbelief At Ivanka's Criticism Of Roy Moore

President Donald Trump fumed at his daughter Ivanka Trumps criticism of Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, the New York Times reported Saturday, citing three unnamed staff members who heard his reaction. Ivanka Trump had said in an interview, when asked about Moore, that theres a special place in hell for people who prey on children.
Do you believe this? Trump told several aides in the hours after Ivanka Trumps comments, the Times reported. The comments were later included in an ad by Moores Democratic opponent, Doug Jones.
Moore has been accused by several women of pursuing relationships with them when they were teenagers and he was a grown man. One woman, Leigh Corfman, told the Washington Post in a Nov. 9 article that Moore attempted to initiate sexual contact with her when she was 14. Beverly Young Nelson alleged in a press conference days later that Moore attempted to rape her when she was 16. Moore has denied all wrongdoing.
The White Houses message on the race has changed day-to-day. Initially following the Posts reporting, the White House said in a statement that Moore should step aside from the race if Corfmans allegations were true. In subsequent days, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to engage with further questions about Moore, saying Alabama voters should choose their next senator, and Trump did not answer shouted questions about the race.

(38,414 posts)She has an opinion about Moore, but that opinion doesn't match up with her dad. "Trump fumed at his daughter.." for expressing an honest opinion about Moore..(an opinion held by many)
And that is who Trump is, "my way, is the only way"..No consideration for opposing opinions, even his own daughter..
sure says a whole lot about Trump..what a sad piece of shit..(my apologies to those who have respect for shit)

I'm kinda curious now what the rest of the interview sounded like, and the actual context of that quote.
I really hope Moore's opponent doesn't get caught in what would essentially be a lie, if he's putting out campaign ads implying that Ivanka said Moore was guilty, if in fact all she actually said was 'IF he's guilty (he's a bad dude)'.
Because those are two different scenarios. Not that *I* don't totally think he IS guilty ... but ... it may be factually inaccurate to say she was condemning Moore when she said that. Again, I dunno cause I only know that one quote.
It also could very well be that what Trump is fuming about ... is the misrepresentation of what she said, not that he's mad at his Precious.

(33,643 posts)"I've yet to see a valid explanation and I have no reason to doubt the victims' accounts".
Those are considerably stronger words of condemnation ... though I'd say they stop short of actually proclaiming him guilty outright.
And I'd still maintain that if you were to say ONLY that Ivanka said: "There's a special place in hell for those that prey on children" WRT her opinion on Moore, then you are not entirely being accurate, because the implication when you only quote that one piece ... is that she's unequivocally proclaimed him guilty ... when in fact, while she's clearly insinuated it, she's also left the door open to being convinced otherwise.
And knowing how much Dump despises the 'liberal media', but loves Ivanka (most likely, in the biblical sense), I'd be willing to bet he's twisted the whole subject in HIS mind to 'ZOMG the media is misreporting what my darling Daughter actually said!'.
That's all I'm getting at.
