Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is reportedly planning to unveil a relief package for Puerto Rico, which is still recovering after a hurricane tore through the island earlier this year.

Sanders will unveil the $146 billion bill on Tuesday, according to The Washington Post. He hopes that 70 percent of the island's energy needs within the next 10 years will be provided through renewable power sources as a result of the plan, according to the Post.

The bill would also give the island more federal funding for healthcare, education and transportation. “This is the closest we have to a Marshall Plan for Puerto Rico,” said Ramón Luis Nieves, a former member of the Senate of Puerto Rico.

The plan would allot money for helping the island to pay off its debt and for infrastructure. It also targets $51 billion for economic development.

Not being able to pass legislation while Obama was president did not stop Repubs from proposing futile laws. It showed what they wanted to do when they got power.

We need to do the same, and keep reminding people that our side wants to help people, not punish them.
