Source: huffingtonpost.com
Former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) praised Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan on Friday, lauding the Wisconsin congressman as a "spokesman of hard truth against fakery."
Simpson, who co-chaired President Obama's commission on debt and deficit reduction with Erskine Bowles, said during an appearance on Fox News that Ryan "encourages" him.

(6,335 posts)It's clear, everyone can understand it, and the image of clipping coupons to afford your groceries is not a reassuring or attractive one, especially applied to health care. I noticed it before on here (probably in one of your posts) and meant to commend it as good phrasing (in the current jargon, "good framing."
Of course, they may not want to since it could also be applied to the ACA, with its labyrinthine regulations and "subsidies" but hey, elections are not about "truth" they are about slogans.

(6,335 posts)The Ds are, as usual, idiots when it comes to language.
When you get a "voucher" for something you present it and get something for it.
However, trying to come up with something that "works" for ACA is near impossible, since it doesn't fill the actual need. Which people know, thus their susceptibility to R manipulation for something that's even worse than the ACA.

Their shared goal is cutting SS and Medicare to pay for tax cuts at the top and when Simpson heaps praise on Ryan that's really what he's talking about.

(35 posts)you did not listen and watch his career. He is not to be trusted on social security, medicare, womens issues, and
his career proves it. The commission was "fixed", and to have democrats do anything but disdain this man's career, is an outrage.

I'm not saying he won't play ball with the commission's findings
BUT if he wins re-election there is the distinct possibility now
that employment is improving and will be picking up steam by
Christmas, generating more tax and Social Security revenues
and possibly enabling some moderation of the commission's
recommendations. Yeah, kick the can a little further, but
that's how I see it at this point.
