NRA on Trump meeting: Great TV, but 'bad policy'

Source: The Hill

BY LYDIA WHEELER - 02/28/18 07:26 PM EST

The National Rifle Association (NRA) on Wednesday issued a blistering statement criticizing a meeting held by President Trump and lawmakers to discuss gun proposals in the wake of a mass shooting at a Florida high school.

During the bipartisan meeting, Trump said guns should be taken from dangerous individuals even if it violates due process rights, and suggested lawmakers remove a concealed-carry measure from a bipartisan background checks bill.

The measure, which would allow concealed weapons to be carried over state lines, is a top NRA priority.

“While today’s meeting made for great TV, the gun-control proposals discussed would make for bad policy that would not keep our children safe,” NRA Spokeswoman Jennifer Baker said in a statement to The Hill.

Trump said that everyone in the meeting except him was scared of the NRA, but he had lunch with them and he really likes them and they are the best people and true patriots and nobody likes them more than he does!

How dare they release a "blistering statement" criticizing him!

to stop it wouldn't be afraid of the little ol' NRA now, would they?
Apparently Trump seems to think he could diffuse a school massacre, unarmed, just by the sheer majesty of his presence. Just the brightness of his magnificent aura would be enough to blind any shooter into submission.
Why would he have any qualms about standing up to the NRA? Besides, LaPierre and the rest of the NRA after-guard know Trump doesn't mean a word he said, and is merely grandstanding for the more left-leaning folks in the world.
I'm convinced, isn't everyone else? Donald J. Trump.......American Hero!
