Washington (CNN) - President Donald Trump is asking chief of staff John Kelly for help in pushing his daughter and son-in-law out of the White House, The New York Times reports.
The Times, citing two people familiar with Trump's views, said Trump has been frustrated with his son-in-law Kushner after his top secret security clearance was downgraded this week and a report came out that officials from four countries had discussed ways to manipulate him during their dealings on foreign policy. But Trump has told Kushner, who is a senior adviser, and his daughter Ivanka that they should remain in their roles, the Times reported.
Trump has vented at times that the couple should have never come to the White House and should leave, White House aides told the newspaper.
CNN has not independently confirmed the Times' report. A message left with the White House seeking comment Friday was not immediately returned.

He's a damned coward, afraid to take any action on his own without ensuring there's someone handy to blame in case something backfires.

(5,914 posts)It's going to take Kelly and probably 3 or 4 big Secret Service agents to try to pry his desperate fingers away from the sides of the door as he screams and pleads.

My dad certainly would've had no problem telling me to get out if he needed to.

(50,546 posts)Im calling BS on this one. Anyone in the White House serves at the Pleasure of the President, not the Pleasure of the Chief of Staff. If he wanted Jared and Ivanka gone, the process is very simple: tell them they cant return to the White House.
Reality time: Jared and Ivanka are the de facto president. He cant get rid of them because theyre running the country; Trumps real purpose in life is to serve as an Autopen that runs on Big Macs.

(10,132 posts)he seems rather reluctant to do it in real life.
And it's not like anyone raised the nepotism issue before he was sworn in...

(713 posts)What a coward. With Trump, it is always someone else's fault. He takes no responsibility for the people he hires.
Newsflash- if you hire bad actors, that means that you are an incompetent manager who is a poor judge of who to hire. Your staff's failures are a reflection on your own poor judgment in hiring these people.
Also, it is hilarious to me that Trump wants to throw his own Daughter and Son-In-Law under the bus, but does not even have the guts to do it himself. What an awful person he is.
