UPDATED - Graham: Both parties would 'suffer' if Congress doesn't take up gun legislation

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 03/04/18 10:57 AM EST

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) on Sunday said both parties would “suffer” if Congress doesn’t take up gun legislation.

“If we don’t take this up and Democrats don’t work with us, we’ll all suffer and we should,” Graham told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

The South Carolina senator argued Republicans must work across party lines on the gun issue. “If we don’t, we’re going to get hurt because most Americans believe we should solve problems that Americans are facing like gun violence,” Graham said of taking up a gun bill during an election year.

The senator’s remarks come after President Trump last week hosted a bipartisan group of lawmakers for a televised meeting about guns.

UPDATE

Lindsey Graham: Trump "making a huge mistake" on tariffs

Sen. Lindsey Graham urged President Trump to reconsider his decision to issue steel and aluminum tariffs in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation."

His case: China is causing the problem Trump wants to solve, but this policy will hurt allies and U.S. consumers far more than China.

But, but, but: The next guest on Face the Nation was Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat. Manchin said he generally supports Trump's move because it will protect American jobs — a sign of how this issue cuts across party lines.

A liberal Republican and Manchin a conservative Democrat. Graham is closer to Democrats on some issues and Manchin is closer to Republicans on others.

Trade, guns and immigration are just three off the top of my head. Politicians are all slaves to their voters regardless of political affiliation. At the end of the day their only goal is to be re-elected..

Graham is open to gun legislation and wants to give DREAMERS and all undocumented immigrants a pathway to citizenship!!

Manchin is a Democrat in a blood red state and can not vote for either!! If he did he would be replaced by a Republican in a crushing defeat!

My point was he is a Democrat and just being a Democrat he adds to our numbers In the Senate for control!!

You from your post are not in anyway imaginable forward thinking!! Let us say after the next election we would have had control of the Senate if Manchin or other Red State Senators were not replaced by a Conservative Republicans!! Can you grasp that very real possibility!!

And how much Graham did the NRA give you to claim that ? How much is the weapons contractors paying you to support trump's going to war too Graham? The Voters can see right through that. See you in Nov. . Trump could rescind the OE he signed making getting guns easier for the mentally disturbed right now, so why haven't you talked in public about that? You're as big a liar as trump is. The American people will not forget this this time either. Assault weapons banned or you lose your job is the answer. Any Democrats refusing a ban on assault weapons of war will also be targeted for removal from office if needed. All Republicans are the problem.

Remember when the GOP had a sit in on the House floor to ban people on the terrorist fucking watch list from buying guns? You don't? Right. BECAUSE IT WAS THE DEMOCRATS AND YOUR PARTY BLOCKED IT! But hey, keep telling yourself lies and perhaps one day, you'll actually believe them!

Remember when the Dems had control of House and Senate but the "Blue Dog" Dems would still keep things from getting passed?
Well, your argument THEN was that the Dems didn't really want things to pass - and that NO Pugs were responsible.
Now it's the other way - and you're trying to cover your own inability to get legislation passed, even though you do have the majority, by blaming the Dems for not working with you!

After Turtle McConnell's famous "We're gonna' make Obama a 1-term president by opposing EVERYTHING" speech, you and your party have shown the nation where you stand, how you plan to vote, and you have nobody to blame for ANY of this mess except you and your fellow co-conspirators!

May you ROT IN HELL!!!!!!!
