Charles Koch: Corporations need to 'reject' Trump's tariffs

Source: The Hill

Republican donor Charles Koch slammed President Trump's announced tariffs on steel and aluminum and encouraged corporate leaders to reject the plan in an op-ed on Wednesday.

"One might assume that, as the head of Koch Industries — a large company involved in many industries, including steel — I would applaud such import tariffs because they would be to our immediate and financial benefit. But corporate leaders must reject this type of short-term thinking, and we have," Koch wrote in The Washington Post.

Koch went on to describe the "harmful effect" he said the tariffs would have, saying consumers will be hurt the most by the restrictions.

Koch is a free market libertarian who did not contribute to Trump's campaign despite his history as a major Republican donor. He is the latest businessman to speak out against Trump's plan to slap a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a 10 percent tariff on imported aluminum.

Republicans have not lined up behind Trump's announced tariffs either.

Koch Industries is one of the Largest suppliers of Ag Fertilizers and if you have been following what is happening in Farm State America, well, there are not any new Foreign Grain Contracts. And from what is being talked about is this, the Grain Bins are full from last Harvest.

Tariff's against Mexico and Canada are Killers. Mexico has already ordered Corn and Beans from South American Suppliers,Canada has not ordered American Corn or Beans, only to fill their needs from Australia and European sources.

BTW,Flinthill Resources, which is a Koch Industry refinery operation which Imports Ethenol from Brasil for their Gasoline Blending Plants.

Using his money to do anything possible to enrich himself and people like him. He wants to destroy our government to cut taxes on the rich.

And

did not contribute to Trump's campaign despite his history as a major Republican donor

AHAHAHAHAHAHHHHAAAAA!!!

The Koches have picked half or more of the cabinet secretaries. They have used their donor network to help GOP candidates who support the president. The only reason the president is not yet impeached is because the Koches wanted tax cuts and now want to destroy Medicaid and Medicare. They are FULLY COMPLICIT.

How foolish the Hill is (they lean conservative, and this is the latest example).

Koch Industries uses massive amounts of unfinished steel (via other manufacturers) for rail cars and pipe for transporting oil and refined chemicals. Sheet steel is also used to make the pressure and storage vessels in their refineries and liquid product storage yards. The same is true for paper mills.

So, I'm guessing the tariffs would increase their operating and capital investment costs substantially.

If the Koch boys threatened to cut off the money.

I wonder why they've tolerated him this long. Pence is a much more compliant and predictable suck-up.
