Officer Zach Rosen, who beat up a suspect on video, just got his job back

A Columbus, Ohio, police officer who was fired in 2017 for stomping on a man’s head will soon be back on the force, as if nothing happened.

On April 8, 2017, cellphone footage caught Columbus police officer Zach Rosen stomping on the head of suspect DeMarko Anderson. The altercation occurred while police were responding to a call about a man with a gun in the city’s Linden neighborhood.

While Anderson was already laying face down on the ground and being handcuffed by officer Darren Stephens, Rosen ran up and kicked him in the face. After the officer’s own deputy chief stated his actions were “unreasonable,” and made “no sense,” he was fired by city officials after a four month investigation.

Monday, Rosen’s firing was reversed after a police union arbitrator’s ruling. Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther denounced the ruling later that same afternoon.

Maybe the loss of anonymity might make them think twice about letting these dangerous thugs back on the force

I would really like to see the arbitrator's ruling to see what their justification was.

union member, and have held union leadership positions. Police unions, by-and-large, are little more than fraternities which "protect" their members - right or wrong. Most of them are ardent right-wing Trump supporters.
