AUSTIN, Texas The Latest on deadly package bombings in Austin, Texas (all times local):
12:30 p.m.
Police are responding to another explosion in Austin that badly injured a woman, hours after a package bomb killed a teenager and wounded a woman in a different part of the city.
Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted that an explosion Monday in southeast Austin injured a woman in her 70s, who has been hospitalized. A second woman from that address has been hospitalized with an unrelated medical issue.
Authorities have not said whether the most recent explosion was caused by a package bomb like the one that exploded earlier Monday.
Police Chief Brian Manley said at a news conference Monday that investigators believe the deadly blast Monday is linked to a March 2 package bomb that killed a 39-year-old man in another part of the city.

(19,559 posts)Theyre all in east Austin so far, too. Chief Manley said earlier there may be a hate crime link since the first two victims were black. I dont know if the third woman was yet or not.

(6,241 posts)with my kids and had this conversation. We told them if we get any package, don't touch it, and to come get one of us, and we'll take care of it. It made me sick telling my autistic 11 and 8 year old not to touch a package cause it might be a bomb.
I hope they catch this idiot quick.

Police: Deadly blasts in Texas connected
(CNN)Three explosions that occurred when people picked up packages outside their residences appear to be connected, Austin, Texas, city Police Chief Brian Manley said Monday at a news conference.
A Monday morning explosion killed a 17-year-old African-American boy and also injured a woman at the house. A second Monday explosion left a 75-year-old woman in critical condition, the chief said. A March 2 blast killed a 39-year-old African-American man.
All the explosions occurred when people who lived at the residences went outside and picked up packages, Manley said. The packages were not delivered by the postal service or delivery services like UPS or FedEx, he said.
Third explosion (March 12)
Second explosion (March 12)
First explosion (March 2)
"The evidence makes us believe these incidents are related," he said, saying investigators have not come up with a motive or whether anybody has claimed responsibility. It's not known if the victims knew each other or if they were targeted, he said.
Now might be a good time to think about getting one of those Ring front porch cameras. If the perp rather than the FedEx/UPS guy is setting the packages at their doors, they can see who it is.
