Greene Democrat files paperwork to run against Sabattus candidate who insulted Florida teens
Source: Portland Press Herald
One of two Florida teens criticized by a Sabattus politician issued a blunt call Wednesday for someone to make sure Republican Leslie Gibson faces an opponent in this years state House race.
David Hogg, a senior at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, called for friends in Maine to take him on.
Who wants to run against this hate-loving politician? Hogg asked. I dont care what party. JUST DO IT.
It appears that somebody plans to do just that.

"Democrat Eryn Gilchrist of Greene filed the required paperwork Thursday to run in the 57th District, eliminating the possibility that Gibson could win the seat uncontested,
She said never anticipated running for office but felt so horrified and embarrassed at the thought of Gibson representing her that she decided to jump into the fray."
This young woman will have an unbelievable amount of support.
There are some great orgs that will provide her with a step by step how-to plan & I have a feeling her campaign will not have to go begging for funding either.
Gibson asked for this with his deploraby backward hateful cruelty
Go get em Eryn!

I would really have been happy to partake in representative democracy by voting, Gilchrist said.
Gilchrist, 28, a Connecticut native who works for a medical device company based in Bowdoin, is a 2013 graduate of Bates College.
Eryn Gilchrist, YEAH

After a bigoted GOP state house candidate in Maine called #ParklandShooting survivor Emma González a "skinhead lesbian," Democrat Eryn Gilchrist decided to challenge him.
Does anyone have Eryn's contact info so @TheDemCoalition can boost her campaign?

(799 posts)They have the wind behind their backs and they will be crucial in assisting the Blue Wave we need in November up and down the ballot. They really are amazing! Just donated to Eryn's campaign and it looks like she is close to her goal already. Hopefully the momentum will continue to make sure that the Republican doesn't cakewalk into office.

(2,990 posts)...Gibson, however bigoted and toddleresque he may be, at least had the apparent decency to issue a real apology (not some sort of "to anyone I may have offended..." pandering) directly to one of the people he insulted.
That being said, I have no idea whether it was sincere, and whether it was or not, the fact that this allegedly grown man felt entitled to insult teenagers (and to attack them personally, not the substance of what they said) disqualifies him from any sort of public office. He should recognize that and drop out of the race.
