Leaked email: NC GOP worried about losing control of Statehouse after Pa. special election

Source: The HILL

.
An email leaked from the North Carolina GOP shows Republicans in the state are worried about their prospects for 2018 after the surprise results of the Pennsylvania special election this week.

In an email obtained by the Raleigh News & Observer, North Carolina GOP House Caucus political director Matt Bales warned congressional Republicans in vulnerable seats of a possible wave of Democratic support that could potentially cost the GOP its majority in the state House and Senate come the 2018 midterm elections.

Pennsylvania Democrat Conor Lamb looks poised to win what was thought to be a safe Republican district, where President Trump won by nearly 20 points in 2016.

"The outcome is yet another example of the Democratic base being fired up and the Republicans not turning out their voters," Bales said in the email. "The momentum on the Democratic side is real."

once they are elected, showing the pro-Russian conservatives the door.

I like the way that sounds much better, as I don't really care what conservatives think, if they're worried or terrified or wetting their pants.

dems are challenging seats in every district. they probably will lose and lose big and rightly so: the republicans here are gawdawful, as bad as any in DC.

No district can call itself "deep-red" because any/every district is winnable for the Dems, with the right candidate.

Enough people are awake now, and they're paying attention finally. Enough people regret voting for the orange asshole and they realize that Hillary would have been so much better, what did it matter that they didn't "like" her?

Many states are more aware of the gerrymandering problem, and how the GOP has been using it to steal elections for the last 8 or 10 years. Pennsylvania still has a long way to go, but we're energized now. We're finally seeing results and it feels so good!

It takes extraordinary turnout of Dems to beat mediocre turnout by Reps. By the time the midterm elections roll around the Rs will have dumped a ton of money in each and every race to discourage turnout by Ds.
