Democrat calls for 'open hearings' on Trump administration after McCabe firing
Source: The Hill
Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Il.) is calling for Republicans to hold hearings on the Trump administration after the firing of former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe.
"Firing Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe at 10 p.m. on a Friday night is an attack on law enforcement staggering in both its cowardice and vindictiveness, Krishnamoorthi said in a statement. "The White House has shown yet again that it will stop at nothing to discredit the FBI and, through it, Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation."
"Congressional Republican leadership must now have the courage to hold open hearings on the Trump administration's unprecedented efforts to undermine the rule of law and those who uphold it," he continued. "To do any less would be to betray the principles that truly make America great."
Krishnamoorthi sits on the House Oversight Committee, which interviewed McCabe earlier this year.

(6,911 posts)Gratefully, Democrats like Krishnamoorti can think on their feet, or even better, are prepared for a number of eventualities. Great statement in response to a Friday night political attack on the rule of law by rogue anarchists like Trump and Sessions.
Unlike our current president who gets up in the morning and asks "what is that bright thing in the sky shining on my Egg McMuffin?"

...and of course there was the mysterious christmas list that needed investigation to determine if it was an enemies list
But firing a career FBI agent hours before retirement because he might be a witness against the president? Crickets from the gop.

(32,620 posts)We should be hearing statements from former Presidents, including Bush 1, Bush 2, Carter, Clinton and Obama.
It will come to that eventually. Why are they pretending it's not their fight?
Why are Republicans not saying a word?
There are plenty of retired officials, no longer working for the government and I'm sure they're incensed over Trump's actions. John Dean is speaking up but he's disavowed the GOP long ago. Maybe Cheney, Rumsfeld, Kissinger, retired Generals, they're all collecting government pensions now. This has to hit close to home for them.

Well, Bush and Bush we know but.... what about the other two?
Actually, thinking about it, I doubt it would do any good...

(14,169 posts)is that they think they can ride this out. That once Mueller is fired, and the investigation shut down, they can ride out the media storm, the strongly worded letters from Democrats, and that the American public is too apathetic, ignorant, and lazy to rise up onto the streets. And that Fox Propaganda Network will be helping them 24/7 to justify their actions, along with talk radio. And that they know something we don't about the voting machines, and control of voting rolls etc.. and so know they only have to get that 40% back out to vote for their poor persecuted leader in order to swing the votes in his favor.

(32,620 posts)... but I'm referring to all those guys who are retired now, who have no allegiance to Trump. As a matter of fact they probably hate him and they're probably worried for the future of this country. Just like we are.
The ones who want to keep their heads down are the complicit ones who are in the House and Senate now. We'll get to them later after Trump has been incarcerated for life.

Even when they tell you no, keep demanding it, anyway. Put them on record that they own this despicable act which undermines our FBI.
