House GOP leaders are starting to come out in strong support of a second special counsel to investigate conservative allegations of bias and abuse at the FBI.
Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said Monday he backs the appointment of another special counsel to look at how law enforcement has handled the Russia probe. Scalises statement echoed similar calls from Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over the weekend.
The moves align the No. 2 and No. 3 House GOP leaders with President Trump, who could be a factor in a future leadership race between the two friendly rivals.

Several possible reasons for doing this.
1. Undermine Mueller by
a. Demand copy of everything Mueller has
b. Have team in place when Mueller is fired
c. 2nd prosecutor brings 1st case and grants deal

(364 posts)You can insinuate it, you can accuse someone of it, but beyond FOX news, is anybody going to pay attention to this counsel?

(23,336 posts)Once established, the counsel can spread out to investigate all forms of bias by any FBI employee. Expect more Andrew McCabes, expect much FUD at FBI, maybe Justice, CIA, etc.
It will be expected to go far beyond the Russia probe.

(364 posts)Theres no way to prove bias. You can prosecute someone for doing something, but simply accusing someone of not liking you isnt going to work.

(8,751 posts)That they can float any bullshit and it will stick with voters.
The truth is, they learned that trick in the 90s. All the scandals on the Clintons that were total BS, Whitewater, for example. People, today, are still convinced HRC did something wrong there.
People will be convinced for decades that Benghazi conspiracy is real.

(16,371 posts)Setting up dueling special counsels, each armed with a different set of facts will send us into irreversible chaos, and with the Rs in control, I can't think of any way it won't happen now.
And the Russians will be running the election in November with the full CIA complicity of the Republican party.
