Alexander Nix, the CEO of Cambridge Analytica, the firm at the heart of the data-mining scandal, has been suspended.

The company said in a statement: “The board of Cambridge Analytica has announced today that it has suspended CEO Alexander Nix with immediate effect, pending a full, independent investigation.

“In the view of the board, Mr Nix’s recent comments secretly recorded by Channel 4 and other allegations do not represent the values or operations of the firm and his suspension reflects the seriousness with which we view this violation.”

Cambridge Analytica said its chief data officer Alexander Tayler had been appointed acting chief executive while an investigation was carried out by Julian Malins QC whose findings they would “share publicly in due course”.

“The board will be monitoring the situation closely, working closely with Dr Tayler, to ensure that Cambridge Analytica, in all of its operations, represents the firm’s values and delivers the highest-quality service to its clients.”

The Board of Cambridge Analytica has announced today that it has suspended CEO Alexander Nix with immediate effect, pending a full, independent investigation.

In the view of the Board, Mr. Nix’s recent comments secretly recorded by Channel 4 and other allegations do not represent the values or operations of the firm and his suspension reflects the seriousness with which we view this violation.

We have asked Dr. Alexander Tayler to serve as acting CEO while an independent investigation is launched to review those comments and allegations.

We have asked Julian Malins QC to lead this investigation, the findings of which the Board will share publicly in due course.

The Board will be monitoring the situation closely, working closely with Dr. Tayler, to ensure that Cambridge Analytica, in all of its operations, represents the firm’s values and delivers the highest-quality service to its clients.

The data science company, which worked for President Trump’s campaign, suspended Alexander Nix on Tuesday after reports that the company improperly accessed the data of tens of millions of Facebook users.

The board of Cambridge Analytica released a statement saying that allegations against Nix “do not represent the values or operations of the firm.”

The move comes after a British television station broadcast video Monday apparently showing Nix discussing using bribes, traps involving sex workers and other unethical tactics to swing elections around the world.

3. Hello? Who is on the board? Who are the shareholders?

It is so easy to jettison a figurehead CEO to say "We've heard your concerns and we've brought in a new management team."

Let's get some real financial figures about who bankrolled this corrupt company.

And, let's watch them re-incorporate under a new name, new board. How about "Stanford/Eton/Princeton/Harvard/MIT/etc. Institute for xxxx"? Add an LLC and put your little corporation offshore.

Actually I think the Trump "organization" may have room for some other players at the table.

So poetic that CA's petard is hoist by their own type of undercover sting operation. But in this case, they weren't "set up". CA and Nix were so eager for profits that they dug their own grave by revealing too much for their own good.

.... the problem. The problem is he got caught red handed. So in order to look ethical and above board they jettisoned Nix. But the corporate culture was unethical and corrupt by design and was built into the operational plan.

UPDATE: An ex-employee source points out "Cambridge Analytica is a legal fiction. Alexander Nix has been suspended from NOTHING." This is a very good point. More to follow...
