Cambridge Analytica helped Republicans in Colorado win control of state Senate in 2014

Cambridge Analytica used Facebook data to create psychographic profiles that allowed Republican operatives to target specific Colorado voters in battleground state Senate districts in 2014.
A former employee of a Trump-affiliated data-mining firm, Cambridge Analytica, says it used algorithms that took fake news to the next level using data inappropriately obtained from Facebook.

Senate Majority Fund used the data to craft six mailers in 2014, but its not clear how much the fund paid the firm. Cambridge Analytica is not listed in the Colorado political committees state campaign finance records or in federal nonprofit filings.
The company backed by Robert Mercer, a wealthy Republican donor, and tied to Donald Trumps political adviser Steve Bannon is facing investigations in the United Kingdom and United States after it obtained the information from a Russian-American academic researcher.

Very little is known about how Renaissance makes so much money, but it has a Midas touch like no other, making money in good times and bad. It operates quantum trading computers programmed by some of the worlds most brilliant scientists, many of whom are Russian. That means machines do all the trading based on algorithms, executing millions of trades in milliseconds. They can drive the stock market up and down with very little, if any, human interference. The machines place bets on whether prices will go up or down and make profit when their bets are right.

(15,276 posts)the US needs to establish markets that mirror the public markets, but are strictly for betting and who are not allowed to buy or sell actual stocks. The people who like betting on stock prices can have at it with no impact on anyone but themselves.

(2,574 posts)Both Feingold & Udall defeats appeared to be fixed to me. Both very popular Senators compared to the RW stooges who supposedly defeated them. I hope these investigations into CA corrupting past elections continue, especially those that made no sense in the last few years.
