Kelly furious over leak of warning to Trump to not congratulate Putin

Washington (CNN) - White House chief of staff John Kelly is furious about the quick leak of a warning to President Donald Trump to not congratulate his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for his re-election, a White House official said.

Kelly intends to address the matter Wednesday as aides try to figure out who leaked the warning, the official said. The Washington Post first reported Tuesday that Trump congratulated Putin despite warnings from multiple national security advisers and briefing materials that said "DO NOT CONGRATULATE."

"This is unacceptable," the official said, speaking about the leak that some believe was an attempt to embarrass the President and national security adviser H.R. McMaster, who was there for the call.

The official described anger and disappointment in the West Wing over the leak. The White House declined to officially comment on the matter, with an official adding that they "cannot comment on alleged classified deliberative documents allegedly provided to the President."

13. I was also gobsmacked - the PDB is the most sensitive daily document

available in the white house. It requires access beyond ts/sci (unless you are family) And worse, whoever leaked it had to have listened in on the call or been in the room.

The people that were in a position to release this info are among the most disciplined and best trained wrt secrets.

For one of them to get to the point where they would leak this says a lot about the whole situation. It says that things in the depths of the wh are so bad, people are willing to toss careers just to make a point of embarrassing the fake potus.

is very, very small. J random staffer wouldn't have a clue what was in the pdb or what was said on the call. Plus, they clearly took ignoring the warning personally.

So it would have to be someone in a very small list of people. Sure, it could have been kelly or mcghann, but I doubt it. It was likely an nsc staffer who had a part in making the recommendations to not congratulate and to criticize him for the nerve agent attack.
