Sacramento police shot unarmed black man Stephon Clark 20 times in the backyard of his grandparents home this past Sunday night. Four days later, his death has drawn national attention and outrage.
More than 200 activists, including with the local Black Lives Matter chapter and clergy groups, converged on City Hall this afternoon to protest the shooting. They marched through downtown, up a freeway onramp and shut down Interstate 5 in both directions during the evening commute.
They chanted a phone is not a gun, a reference to the police officers who yelled Gun! Gun! Gun! before shooting Clark.
