Iran says will quit nuclear deal if US walks away

Agence-France Presse 3 May 2018

Iran warned on Thursday that it will quit a landmark nuclear deal with world powers if President Donald Trump pulls the United States out of the accord.

"If the United States withdraws from the nuclear deal, then we will not stay in it," Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign policy advisor to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was quoted as saying by the state television website.

Trump has threatened to abandon the agreement when it comes up for renewal on May 12, calling it "insane".

Iran has always denied it sought a nuclear weapon, insisting its atomic programme was for civilian purposes.

We don't stand by our word.

We maintain an adversarial attitude towards them, and attack their economy and financial security. We have ongoing active military presence in two nations bordering them. We have recently overtly aligned with the Sunni Arab states who have historically bloody animosity towards "Shia Persia."

Could it be some kind of misguided neo-con agenda to eliminate the Shiite power base - as if the Sunni elements ranging from Wahhabi fundamental radicalism to Isis to Muslim Brotherhood branches across the Arab world aren't the REAL threat to the world and the peace of the region?
