Sessions vows to prosecute all illegal border crossers and separate children from their parents

Source: Washington Post

By Sari Horwitz May 7 at 1:41 PM

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Monday that the Justice Department will begin prosecuting every person who illegally crosses into the United States along the Southwest border, a hard-line policy shift expected to focus in particular on migrants traveling with children.

In a speech to law enforcement officials in Scottsdale, Ariz., Sessions said the Department of Homeland Security will begin referring such cases to the Justice Department for prosecution and that federal prosecutors will “take on as many of those cases as humanly possible until we get to 100 percent.”

“If you cross the Southwest border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you,” Sessions said, according to a transcript of his remarks. “If you smuggle illegal aliens across our border, then we will prosecute you. If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law. If you don’t like that, then don’t smuggle children over our border.”

Senior immigration and border officials have urged Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to prosecute all parents caught crossing the Mexican border illegally with their children, which could split up thousands of families. Most parents now caught crossing the border illegally with their children are quickly released to await civil deportation hearings.

The kids will be sent to reeducation camps if lucky. Otherwise they will be shipped back across the border and dumped like garbage.

The current level of illegal immigration is not a real threat to us or our economy. Just as the Jews posed no threat to pre-Nazi Germany. This is simply using a "boogyman" to shore up power for a regime, by exploiting racist emotions and fears. It is nothing less.

handle the 600,000 illegals that are still waiting for court dates? Doesn't he know that everyone in the US is protected by the Constitution not just citizens?

Civil rights lawyers have been preparing for this. Let's hope they're able to get these family cases fast-tracked, and quickly.

This reminds, of course, of the WWII Japanese internments. I looked last night and, although children did get separated from parents then, it was not an atrocity deliberately perpetrated against the children.

In future, this will be one of the examples of things that happened under this administration. On our watch.
