Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has sent Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) a letter apologizing for saying it was "ridiculous" to not want President Trump at his funeral.
"I've spoken out of turn. ... I shouldn't have said what I said," Hatch told reporters on Tuesday.
Asked if he had sent a letter to McCain apologizing for his remarks, Hatch confirmed that he had.
Hatch sparked a backlash on Monday when he told reporters that it was "ridiculous" McCain wanted Vice President Pence at his funeral instead of Trump.

(115,656 posts)He used to be one of McCain's good friends in the Senate, or I thought so; and at least he should have had the decency to shut up about who McCain wanted to attend his funeral, FFS! But I guess kissing up to Trump was more important than his friendship. I remember when Hatch spoke quite movingly at Ted Kennedy's funeral - but that was before Trump ate his brain.

You may yet succeed at that, but you will never still mine: I don't have enough time left for you to manage that."
And then make the letter public.

(6,831 posts)John McCain has endured enough of trump's insults in life, why should he have to endure them at the graveside as well ? It became so disturbing that Cindy McCain reached out to the WH and asked that they please stop attacking McCain during this difficult time. I mean, come on, chemo AND trump ?
But trump just can't shut his fucking mouth. Just this past weekend, he was at some pep rally and had to slip in some nasty, criticizing shit about McCain not voting on something the bum-nugget wanted him to vote for.
For chrissakes, the man is dying as I type this and you just can't stop slamming him, can you, you odious serial wanker ?
Besides, if trump did show up, you know damn well, it would suddenly be all about him.
