Companies propose immigration detention centers for Midwest

Source: Associated Press

Companies and local governments have proposed building new immigration detention centers in Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana, responding to a request from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials stepping up arrests in the center of the country.

The proposals, most by for-profit corrections contractors, were submitted to ICE after it put out a request in October for detention sites near Chicago, Detroit, Salt Lake City and St. Paul, Minnesota. ICE disclosed the proposals in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by the National Immigrant Justice Center, which provided the information to The Associated Press.

The proposals, all preliminary, include one to build a 640-bed detention center in Pine Island, Minnesota, not far from Rochester, submitted by Management & Training Corp. and another by GEO Group for an 800-bed facility in rural Newton County, Indiana, about 65 miles (105 kilometers) south of Chicago.

CoreCivic Inc. proposed reopening the vacant Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, Minnesota, to supply ICE with up to 600 beds, and expanding a detention center in Pahrump, Nevada, to add space for 604 immigrant detainees.

Because, after all, it's for outsiders who look, talk, and act different from the majority.

Which is the same thing so many Germans said in 1939.

Incredible.

Contracts will undoubtedly go to the firms that do the best job of greasing Spanky's palms.

When I saw Midwest I was hoping they wouldn't mean Michigan. I think of Michigan as one of the Great Lakes states, not the Midwest. As usual there will be money (our tax money) to be made. I'm afraid states won't be able to resist the money.

I went into my grocery store last week and followed a truck with an ICE Team sticker on it. My heart fell into my shoes. I felt like I had just stepped into a Natzi dictatorship, to see that sign of loss of freedom and safety on my own front steps. I really wish I was 20 years younger and could move to a different country. I have never in my entire life felt that way before, but this is no longer the country I grew up in and loved my entire life. Just call me heartbroken!

1. Get government contract to build a private prison on a generous "cost plus" basis, at taxpayer expense
2. Get paid a set amount per prisoner, which includes a generous profit, at taxpayer expense
3. Government does its best to fill up your prison, at taxpayer expense
4. Skim off a percentage of this taxpayer-funded windfall as a 'cost of doing business' and funnel it back as bribes to congress to keep the scam going
5. CEO reaps millions of taxpayer dollars and routinely gets invited to Mar-a-lago as one of "the best people."

and heroin addicts since they are not predominately POC, then they have to find a way to maintain some type of "private prison" somewhere for "jobs" and to go after POC for something. And here is the solution!!11!!1!!!1!!
