Special counsel Robert Mueller appears to have provided a federal judge with an unredacted version of the Justice Department memo laying out the scope of his investigation and the potential crimes he's authorized to pursue.
However, the memo long sought after by President Donald Trump's allies on Capitol Hill, who regularly accuse Mueller of overstepping his bounds remains classified and not public, leaving its details hidden.
The document was filed as an "unredacted memorandum" under seal with the U.S. District Court's Eastern District of Virginia, where Mueller is expected to try former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on bank fraud charges.
Mueller's decision to share the classified document comes two weeks after the judge, T.S. Ellis, demanded to see the full scope memo, authored by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Earlier this month, Ellis called for the document during a hearing on Manafort's attempt to toss out some of the charges against him. .......................................

(21,624 posts)That shows the kind of integrity Bob Mueller has.
Can you imagine anyone being able to write that in a Ken Starr hit job? (or any GOP "investigation" )

(7,220 posts)Because if it does, the calls for the investigation to end will be dialed up to eleven. As will the attacks on our justice system.
Please let there be justice, is that really so much to ask?

(6,344 posts)There needs to be a special security detail just for this document. We don't need some burglar kind of action here.

(8,756 posts)Mueller is a straight arrow. He knows what his job is and where the boundries are. Do you think for a second Mueller has over stepped the parameters of this investigation?
Forget what the incompetent blowhards the Trumpers are. They can't pour pee out of a boot with instructions written on the heel. Who cares what noise they make?
I don't think Mueller has stepped out of the lines once, and I am willing to bet Mueller has all the receipts. If they want to challenge Mueller's integrity, they will lose.
One last point of hilarity. Mueller is a Republican. Rosenstein, who appointed him, is a Republican. The Republican Congress permitted all this. So all this panty wadding over the American Justice system and/or the FBI is Republican-on-Republican panty wadding.

(843 posts)Judge Ellis will now throw out the charges against Manafort and claim the reasons are in the 'classified' memo. No one will be able to hold the Judge accountable because the reason for dropping the charges will never be known.

Excerpt:
Meadows said the Mueller teams decision to share the scope memo with Ellis bolsters his call to provide the document to Congress.
You cant share it with the judiciary and the Executive Branch and not share it with congress, he told reporters on Capitol Hill. I think it strengthens our case.
So Meadows thinks that Congress should be privy to any information given to a judge under seal? Hell, you may as well publish it in the National Inquirer! This rings of fascism in its very finest hour.
