A perk to being inside the Interior Secretarys circle? Personalized tours through National Park Service sites perhaps.
According to Freedom of Information Act records, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and his wife Lola requested VIP tours of national parks for their friends and acquaintances, the Washington Post reported Friday.
In the past 14 months, FOIA documents show the Zinkes have arranged for acquaintances and administration officials to get special tours of the Lincoln Memorial that include areas not open to the public.
Taxpayers money also funded a work trip to Californias Channel Islands National Park for a yacht broker who once sold Lola Zinke a boat. A Zinke aide told WaPo that the interior secretary described the yacht broker as one of three guests who were subject matter experts and could offer personal testimony about the area.

(2,226 posts)Someone should tell Zinkes wife her jaunts with friends are not a perk of office. Taxpayers are paying for stuff they shouldnt. This current government should start bucking down on their spendthrift ways so children can have food and health care in this country.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is pitching some of the national parks he oversees as potential honeymoon destinations for the United Kingdom's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following the couple's wedding on Saturday.
Among the destinations on Zinke's list: Glacier National Park in Montana, Acadia National Park in Maine and Florida's Dry Tortugas National Park.
"Congrats Prince Harry and Meghan," Zinke tweeted. "Looking for some beautiful, adventurous and quintessentially American honeymoon spots? Check out @GlacierNPS @DryTortugasNPS @AcadiaNPS or any other of our 417 @NatlParkService parks!"
. . .
The couple's honeymoon plans haven't yet been announced. According to the British tabloid The Sun, Harry and Markle are expected to delay their post-wedding vacation and will instead attend their first royal engagement sometime next week.
