Former White House communications director Hope Hicks might have been a Democrat in the past, but the Republican Party has forked over nearly $500,000 in legal fees for the longtime aide to President Donald Trump.
If Republican donors are bothered by the stack of scandals lining up for the head of their party, theyre likely even less happy about the fact that their large donations are going straight out the door to lawyers for Trumps staff, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
The RNCs $451,780 payment to Trout Cacheris & Janis adds to the mounting legal fees associated with the investigations by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and several congressional committees of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, The Post wrote.
Hicks hired Robert Trout in September 2017, and according to Federal Election Commission report filed Sunday, he has continued to be paid for over six months. There are three lawyers in the firm that currently represent people being investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller, the firms site said.
The substantial campaign funds being forked over for Trump Team legal fees prompted some party officials to look at a separate legal defense fund last year. The RNC decided, however, that they could use the party to pay for Trumps legal fees.

That is a lot of money, yes it is. But unless the donors raise a stink, it probably will go on.

(9,426 posts)fees, too. If he does not shut the hell up soon, the RNC will run out of donations! Not that that is a bad thing, but who are the idiots who keep sending money for these layabouts? Hicks will not take any chances on going to prison, so she will squeal louder than she did for Lewendowski when they were having their affair.

(24,683 posts)This is amazing, if you or I were to get busted for something, why not go to the democratic party and ask for money to pay the bill for a traffic ticket, for example, since after all I am a democrat, since I have voted in the last 10 presidential election cycles, couldn't vote during Vietnam.
That's the same fucking logic.....................

(7,220 posts)She was on AF1 when shit hit the fan about the Russia meeting at Trump Tower. So when she met with Mueller, either she did or did not admit that Trump made up that phony statement about the "russian adoptions". If she lied, she's facing prison, and has to flip or take a chance she'll get pardoned. If she told the truth, Mueller has Trump by the nuts, right?
