In reversal, Giuliani now says Trump should do interview with Mueller team
Source: Washington Post
President Trumps lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani switched gears Wednesday, saying that he would prefer the president grant an interview to special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs office and that a decision would be made within the next couple weeks.
I guess Id rather do the interview. It gets it over with it, it makes my client happy, he said. The safe course you hear every lawyer say is dont do the interview, and thats easy to say in the abstract. Thats much harder when you have a client who is the president of the United States and wants to be interviewed.
Giuliani had expressed skepticism in recent days about an interview with the team investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, telling the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that his decision would be no if a decision had to be made immediately. If they said, you have to do it now, the answer would have to be no, Giuliani told the Journal.
In Wednesday mornings interview with The Washington Post, he said the president sometimes seesaws on whether he wants to do an interview. There have been a few days where he says, maybe you guys are right, Giuliani said, referring to his lawyers who have warned against an interview. Then he goes right back to, why shouldnt I?

(9,999 posts)So Trump is above the law. Got it.
Bill Clinton was not above the law and had to testify. The GOP vowed to lock Hillary up if she had won. Trump can do whatever the fuck he wants, which often changes by the minute, regardless of the law, and that is just fine and dandy. Got it.

(3 posts)I don't look for Drumpf to do interview...just the publicity leading up and then some lame excuse and an attempt to put the blame on Mueller as his reason to chicken out. "Rudy said Robt. Mueller and now they tell me Robt. Mueller III. No interview if they're changing things all the time. I tried but you can't trust them."

(5,914 posts)Imagine going to a doctor who, though involved in various clinical management activities, hasn't directly diagnosed or treated a single other patient in three decades. How comfortable would you be with that doctor's advice?
Imagine hiring an engineer to design a new complicated structure for you, something that will look great but that could have some safety hazards associated with it. You could hire an engineer who has been running his own company selling model homes of his own design, but has never designed another original structure In 30 years. Would you hire that person?
Giuliani is the legal equivalent of that. He does not know what he's talking about. Trump doesn't care.

(5,586 posts)But I'm starting to think Mueller isn't going to charge anyone in the current administration with any crimes. Kushner got his security clearance, which basically means his not subject to a criminal investigation. The FBI would do a lot of things in the name of an investigation, but they wouldn't give our most secret secrets to someone they're going to charge imminently with a crime.
And if Kushner can't be / isn't going to be charged, I don't see how they get to Trump. Kushner was in charge of the whole media process.
