Hillary Clinton says she is afraid of losing her country

Source: USA Today

William Cummings, USA TODAY Published 9:19 p.m. ET May 25, 2018 | Updated 9:42 p.m. ET May 25, 2018

.........................
The failed 2016 presidential candidate called on the audience to "stand up and defend reason and facts" as visited the Cambridge, Mass., university to accept the school's Radcliffe Medal, which honors women who have had a "transformative impact on society."

"It's not been an easy time for more than half of our country since the 2016 election," Clinton said.

"Right now we are living through a crisis in our democracy," she said. "There are certainly not tanks in the street, but what is happening today goes to the heart of who we are as a nation. And I say this not as a Democrat who lost an election, but an American afraid of losing a country."

Clinton did not mention President Trump by name, but it was clear to whom she was referring when she said there are "leaders in our country who blatantly incite people with hateful rhetoric, who stoke fear of change, who see the world in zero-sum terms."

The former first lady also decried, "Waging a war on the rule of law and a free press, delegitimizing elections, perpetuating corruption, rejecting the idea that our leaders should be public servants, undermining our national unity and attacking truth and reason."

"During the afternoon session, Madeleine Albright, who from 1997‒2001 was the first woman to serve as secretary of state and was also the 2001 Radcliffe Medalist, praised Clinton for her dedication and devotion to the country. “She takes seriously the words that symbolize what this country’s all about,” Albright said, “that all men and women are created equal, and that our shared purpose should be about liberty and justice for everyone regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or whether someone arrived in this land as an immigrant or refugee.”

Hillary Clinton's visit to campus on Friday drew a camera-packed crowd.

he's a right-winger, hangs with a conservative crowd.
He posted and boasted about his favorite album when he was a kid, "From Russia with Love."
I highly doubt that is true.
To me it sounds like he posted it because he's trying to come to terms with why he's agreeing with the right-wingers as to why Russia is a good thing right now, and it wasn't when Reagan was president.
Yes, I agree with Hillary. And this is getting uglier by the day. Each day, the GOPutin is working on making Trump look more and more legitimate. It appears to be working on the extremists right now. Soon, it will spread to those in the middle.

...the "media" would have been more accurate to begin the article with, "The popular vote winner..." or "The voters' choice for President..." than, "The failed 2016 presidential candidate..." It's not inaccurate to call her "failed" as Hillary failed to win the Electoral College. But, her orange opponent failed in many ways, too... if fact, he's a much bigger failure.

I hope Hillary Clinton keeps talking and don't understand the people who want her to shut up and go away.

Thank you! I am old enough to remember when Gore's last name was "who lost to GWB". Our media tries to bury the winners with lots of enthusiasm. Endlessly.

"failed" (or "failing&quot . It actually physically jarred me when I read it applied to Hillary in that first line. From Trump's (pouched) lips to the "Media's" ears, apparently. A really scary proof of increasing normalization of this Creep.

It is intentional selective use of her public roles to nullify the strength of her experience.

We have lost our country but may be able to bring it back. IF we can figure out how to fight the so-called "liberal" MSM........ like USA Today - "failed"???? WHAT are you people (reporters, editors, publishers) THINKING?

Oh, that's right.............without the Repuke $$, we'll fold. SO FOLD ALREADY.

Thank you, Hillary. You are, and will always remain, awesome. Such grace and dignity after a proved stolen "selection".

She won the election, just lost the counting.

Like the saying attributed to Stalin: "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."
There is some question as to whether or not Stalin really said that, or in so many words, but it does reflect his attitude toward elections, and it equally reflects the Republican attitude toward elections. Of course, telling Republicans that they are acting exactly like the worst of the "kommanists" drives them nuts, but if the shoe fits...........

Like Barack, Hillary doesn't owe a goddam thing to this nation; she's already given past sanity levels, as does Barack, Michelle, etc.

My mom passed before Hillary took this nomination. She wanted her instead of Barack; lived long enough (she passed at 96) to appreciate her first black President! She was like a DU showdown Hillary vs. Barack............. and then supported, wholeheartedly, our winner and write (emails) that she hoped Hillary would still be President one day.

Mom was tough! I have no doubt she's the one that makes all those sick in the head Repukes stumble over their own tongues and insert mouths into feet.............

Yes. Hope Hillary continues to speak out more.

I have a sign half made up in case we take to the streets because the Mueller investigation is closed down, or... (don't want to imagine), and its "generic" side says "Make America America Again."

This is so quickly not the nation we inherited, or the nation we were when we elected and reelected Obama, and we now know it could happen here.

Good leadership of bad citizens is crucial. Next time someone tries to suggest we don't have good, that both parties are bad and all politicians are corrupt, refuse to tolerate it.
