Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), a candidate for governor of Tennessee, says that pornography is a big part of the impetus for school shootings, along with violent movies, idle hands and the deterioration of the family.
Its available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but theres pornography there, she said. All of this is available without parental guidance. I think that is a big part of the root cause.

She added that mental illness and broken families are also parts of the problem, saying that even if a mother has a baby when she is not married to the father, both parents should recognize the sacredness of the baby and the life it will lead............................................

House Budget Committee Chairman Diane Black, R-Tenn., flanked by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., right, and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas, left, speaks with reporters about progress on the GOP effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Friday, March 10, 2017. After grueling all-night sessions, the Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means committees both approved their portions of the bill along party-line votes. I wonder what grocery store she shops in that sells porn? It sure as hell isnt the one in her neighborhood, although I doubt very seriously she shops for herself given that Mrs "average Jane" lives in a massive mansion on the lake.

She added that mental illness and broken families are also parts of the problem
...but as a Republican she'll never do one single damned thing to help those people.

(155 posts)pro. Her expertise is far removed from understanding the psycho dynamics of this subject. However, the more I ponder this-perhaps shes a pro on pornography. Either way it doesnt speak well of her inexcusable bluster-part and parcel of what makes her a repub, after all.

(45,380 posts)if she can't acknowledge guns as a force multiplier. All of those other issues would produce a very different outcome if the "idle hands" were used for mass punchings.

Unfortunately, Screw Magazine went out of print in 2005...I would be tempted to buy any politician who claims that ordinary mass-market publications are "porn" a year's subscription to that publication, so that they would have a frame of reference as to what porn is.

(18,470 posts)But online search traffic from behind closed doors in Jesusland suggests that the bad, nasty, sexual impulses righteous believers are trying so hard to shut down may be their own. And if Google search patterns mean anything, theyre not succeeding too well: studies consistently demonstrate that people in conservative religious states search for adult materials online far more often than people in blue states.

Maybe we need to recruit teachers like Stormy Daniels to the classroom? Naaa... but it might get people interested in the physiology and anatomy parts of science class.

wonder what she would think of this new fangled thingy called the "internets"?
edit: But she may actually be right: I do see a lot of porn in the super markets, but its "gun porn" magazines like "Guns and Ammo", "Shooters Digest", etc. Maybe she thinks those admit-ably phallic titles are "real" porn magazines?!
