Republicans shuffle speech lineup to give Ann Romney prime TV slot
Source: Reuters
(Reuters) - Republican officials shuffled the speaking lineup at their convention in Tampa next week to ensure that presidential candidate Mitt Romney's wife Ann will reach a prime-time television audience when she speaks to the gathering.
Ann Romney will now speak on Tuesday night after it became clear that television networks were not planning to show her Monday-night address before a prime-time audience.
Romney's wife has proved to be one of his most popular assets in his run for the White House against President Barack Obama, helping to humanize a candidate who has consistently been criticized as out of touch.
New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez was originally scheduled to speak on Tuesday night in the slot now given to Ann Romney, but officials said her speech has been put back until Wednesday.

Who hates Sarah Palin, Condoleezza Rice, Kristi Noem, Michelle Bachmann, Jan Brewer, Susana Martinez, Mary Falin, Nicki Haley? The last four are Republican governors.
Who hates these women? They all get negative media coverage or none at all. Just like Ann Romney.
Three of the major networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC, will not broadcast Ann Romneys address blah blah blah
oh not the pugs everything they do is pro women all women

(4,802 posts)After her 'you people ' comment." she humanizes Mitt. ? She's more a Marie Antoinette type. She'll need a crafty speech writer.. She to most is more like a b&tch. Who could possibly be impressed with her as a First Lady.. She's much to of a aristocrat. But, then the GOP is known for doing make overs.. Sarah Palin , four years ago the RNC had to 'dress up.'.. Ann Romney , more likely they will need buy her some duds from Wall Mart in order to ' dress her down. '

(27,404 posts)that's for sure. A speechwriter will so it andf she will talk about how warm Mitt is and what a wonderful father he is to the 5 boys. It will be all sunlight and rainbows and there will not be one thing that anyone anywhere will find offensive. It will be saccarine at its highest level.
She's as bad as Mitt when she goes off script so the writers will be sure she has a controversy free speech.

(12,287 posts)She's not as much of an asset that they and all the pundits think she is. She comes off as queen Ann - and I'll bet what ever she wears will have cost at least 10 grand.

(50,453 posts)I'll bet her hair and makeup styling will cost the RNC at least 10 grand. I'm thinkin' $3000 for the shoes, $15,000 for the dress, $50,000 for jewelry and $12,000 for eight hours in front of a makeup mirror. At the end of the day, she will be Oscars-stunning.
The problem is, inside all of the glitz and glamor will still be a heart carved from solid ice.

She'll look at him like Nancy looked at Ronnie and with luck people will find themselves wondering why there's something missing, something creepy about the way when she then turns and looks at them down her condescending, smug litle nose.

(19,310 posts)I thought his most popular asset was his magical 401K account.
Seriously though, even Reuters trying to fluff this screwed up. Who in their right mind would refer to Ann Romney as an "asset" considering the flack they've been catching for Bain, tax returns, off-shore accounts, etc.
And another thing, just who exactly is she popular with? All the rest of the 1% wives?

I personally don't see Ann Romney as a popular asset. Each time I have seen her speak (past or present), she points or shakes her her finger as though she is scolding the housekeeper. Very condescending

(6 posts)So far I haven't read one thing that anyone has written that has any real substance. It's just a HATE Ann Romney fest. I personally don't want Mitt Romney in the White House but if we are just haters of those who don't believe what we believe then we as a country are in trouble. We're all Americans with the right to our own view and beliefs. We even have the right to be Ann Romney haters but I hope we spend less time hating and more time looking at the real issues.

And apparently the truth hurts for some people.
