Former Fla. GOP Gov. Charlie Crist to speak at Democratic National Convention

Source: Bay News

TAMPA (AP) --

Florida's former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist will be a speaker at the Democratic National Convention.

An official with President Barack Obama's campaign said Sunday that Crist will speak at next week's convention in Charlotte, N.C., but the day hasn't been worked out.

The official wasn't authorized to speak and requested anonymity.

Crist announced Sunday that he is endorsing Obama. Republicans called the decision political opportunism and pointed out Crist has previously criticized the president on issues like his health care overhaul.

Repugs couldn't stand Crist's gayness, and then he praised stimulus money...

Herman Cain on the Board of AGRO CORP and Whirlpool-Maytag voted the companies take $26,000,000 stimulus money which Cain later lied "never created on job".

As a former Republican myself, I would like to welcome Gov. Crist to the Democratic Party (yeah, yeah, yeah - he is an Independent )!

If you are a true 'former' Republican than I'd like to say welcome aboard

Years and years and years ago I was married to a republican, but that was a long time ago before the republicans became so extreme and 'crazy'.

As a woman it boggles my mind how any woman could support the republican's platform that is so very anti-women's rights.

and while repub., he was the only one who spit in the Bush's face (both Jeb and George43) alot of the time.

(and after Mitt loses big this year, it would be great to have Charlie in office in 14 to rail against Jeb when Jeb runs for President in 16.)

This is a continuation of what I've been saying for some time. The GOP has gone so bat shit crazy that the only party left for the sane is the Democrats. The result is a dilution of the democratic party. It undermines the progressive nature of the party. We don't have healthy debates on policy because all the sane folk are in the same party. And it is how the "Blue Dogs" can dictate to the party what will and won't get passed.

We need the GOP to rid itself of the nuts and take back their right leaning moderates and become a party of the sane again so that the left can move this country forward. We need to be able to present the country with two SANE choices, instead of the wackos, and the democrats. Because far too often they elect the wackos.

I don't want Crist endorsing the democrat. I want Crist to be running as the GOP candidate. I don't want Powell endorsing Obama, I want him running as the republican that he is. Truth is, I want the DLC to go back to being "Rockefeller Republicans" like they used to be. We were all better off. That's when we got Medicaid, and civil rights, and the EPA, all accomplished.
